Here's how my system works (each category was weighted equally [25%]):

C = Critics rating [taken from Rotten Tomatoes]
BO = Box Office [this represents the gross of the film adjusted for inflation; I used the CPI Inflation Calculator]
O = number of Oscar points [1 point for an Oscar nomination; 3 points for an Oscar win]
IMDB = rating on IMDB

01. Pulp Fiction [highest Rotten Tomatoes rating; most Oscar points; highest IMDB rating]
02. The Sixth Sense [highest box office gross, adjusted for inflation]
03. Die Hard
04. Twelve Monkeys
05. Live Free or Die Hard
06. Sin City
07. Die Hard 2
08. Unbreakable
09. The Fifth Element

37. Hudson Hawk
38. Perfect Stranger
39. Sunset
40. Breakfast of Champions

41. The Whole Ten Yards

What do you guys think of this particular list? The only one I've got a real problem with is Hudson Hawk at #37. I thought that movie was hilarious. And maybe The Fifth Element at #9 - it's been a while since I've seen it, but I don't particularly remember enjoying it (I'd rather see Die Hard: With a Vengeance in its place).

What we've learned so far...

Kurt Russell Top 3
01. Tombstone
02. Silkwood
03. Miracle

Tom Cruise Top 3
01. Rain Man
02. Minority Report
03. Jerry Maguire

Arnold Schwarzenegger Top 3
01. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
02. Total Recall
03. True Lies

Sylvester Stallone Top 3
01. Rocky
02. First Blood
03. Cliffhanger

Fuck any list that doesn't have Die Hard at the top. :p

I totally agree.

However, my top 4:

Die Hard
Armageddon
The Last Boy Scout
The Whole Nine Yards

Besides the other 3, anything outside the Die Hard series were totally out of his acting range and character persona. IMHO.

Armageddon was mostly waste of Willis in an overly-protective father role.

Blind Date is underrated. Moonlighting-era Willis doing his thing.

Bandits was suprisingly crappy IIRC, given the cast involved. A lot of Willis' movies either stink or are totally forgettable, actually. At some point he just decided resigned himself to much to being a somewhat generic action hero.

Wow, Blind Date and The Whole Nine Yards really got screwed, both are awesome movies. Also, Die Hard should be at the top of this list.

Is it weird that I've never seen Pulp Fiction? Is it actually that good?

^ I agree, the movie slows to a crawl as soon as Bruce Willis - and his highly irritating girlfriend! - appears on screen.

My top three:
1. Die Hard
2. Twelve Monkeys
3. The Fifth Element

I really need to rewatch The Sixth Sense and watch Sin City, though!

Agreed.

As far as his worst goes, the man should have to pay a fine for making Unbreakable. At least Sam Jackson was in Star Wars. For that his participation in Unbreakable is forgiven.

But he should have to pay a fine too.

^ I love Unbreakable, myself. I thought it was a really interesting take on the superhero genre.

But yes, Die Hard is the best Bruce Willis movie, hands down. 'Course, the real question here is what percentage of these movies feature Willis played a grizzled cop?

My ranking:

3. Twelve Monkeys

Very Good

4. Die Hard: With a Vengeance
5. The Sixth Sense

9. Lucky Number Slevin
10. Live Free or Die Hard
11. Sin City

Good

12. Unbreakable
13. Die Hard 2

19. Tears of the Sun
20. Hostage
21. Hudson Hawk

That's my Bruce Willlis top 3 in order too.

I can't believe that Live Free or Die Hard ranks as high as it does on this rating system, or any rating system. That movie was atrocious, and much worse than the other two sequels.

Is it weird that I've never seen Pulp Fiction? Is it actually that good?

Yes it's that good. Box office, reviews, influence, you name it, it has high marks across the board.

If you've ever seen any other Quentin Tarantino movie, you've basically seen an echo of this movie. This is the one where he got all the elements right. IMO.

Bruce is da man.

My top 10 Willis movies:

Unbreakable
Die Hard 1 & 2 (They count as one epic movie to me)
Last Boyscout
Armageddon
Blind Date
Fifth Element
Last man Standing
Pulp Fiction
Sin City
16 Blocks

Any list of "best" Bruce Willis movies without DIE HARD in the top slot is irredeemably flawed.

DIE HARD is the movie all other action movies wish they could be when they grow up.

Is it weird that I've never seen Pulp Fiction? Is it actually that good?

Not for Bruce Willis. Besides being different it reintroduced John Travolta and introduced Samual Jackson.

Uh, no. The film gave Samuel L. Jackson a big career boost, but he was already a rising character actor having appeared in films like Patriot Games, Do the Right Thing, White Sands, Menace II Society and True Romance among others.
