HDNet, ch 569 if you have Verizon (don't know what other systems offers)
has been showing Enterprise in entirety no commercials.

They're mopping up the last of Season 4 and Season 1 is coming back
around with Broken Bow 1 & 2 this Wed and Thur and the rest follows.

I'm getting new VCR tapes and maybe going to digitize a few Season 1
faves for myself.

DVP = 480P resolution
Native HD Net broadcast = 1080i (and if/when they release ENT on Bluray, it will be 1080P resolution).

Question to the OP: IF you have an HD capable TV, how in the hell are you able to even record to VHS, as it is about 320i (below even standard definition resolution); and why would you want to?

The picture quality on this show never looks the same twice to me. Take early Season 1 episodes in 16:9 Widescreen on DVD... the colours are muted, kind of greyish. That's a common complaint about the show's look, I've noticed down the years. Now, they're showing the same ones at the moment... on UK TV, Virgin 1. 4:3 letterbox unfortunately but the picture is better, with more background colour and contrast. Makes me wonder exactly how many different 'broadcast masters' were done. I've seen the show in a variety of different ratios since 2002. Once I swear, I saw Broken Bow and it was non 'matted'. That's a process where they crop the image to fit the widescreen. So basically SKY must've broadcast the original 4:3 version, with material usually outside the 16:9 frame - top/bottom.

I've never even seen the show in High Def and can't wait to see it in the way it was intended.

wrapping up season 4 is making me real sad. I've always been a big Star Trek fan growing up..enjoying the Next Gen, DS9, and Voyager. I never did get into Enterprise, well because I had better things to do in my early 20s...

So I have catching all the episodes on HDNet for the last serveral weeks. I set my DVR to record and watch them when I get home from work. It gets so bad that I can't wait till the next day to watch another two episodes. I often wonder how I would have felt if I was only getting one new one a week. Now it is only a few epidsodes from the end.

Man I really wish this show was given more than 4 seasons. Season 3 was amazing and season 4 is really good to. It feels like it is only biggenning and now it will all be over, only to repeat itself. BLAH!!!

I agree, the show looks fabulous on HDNet. And the uncut, no-commercials, no dancing baloney across the bottom of the screen...all icing. This is the channel to watch it on, if you can get it.

Universal HD showed Quantum Leap in "artificial letterbox" a few years back. QL was never broadcast in letterbox, so they basically cropped off part of the top and bottom. I'll bet the directors just loved the mangling of their carefully framed shots.

But I couldn't complain a whole lot...the picture quality was hugely better than on my old VHS tapes, and the original music selections were there.

I popped in In a Mirror, Darkly to see how ENT looked on my new HD television and the picture came out quite stunning, very sharp like something in between SD and HD. Now the first three seasons look decent, but far less impressive.

It may have had something to do with our switch to Sony digital cameras in Season 4. Seasons 1-3 were shot on 35mm film.

Thanks Mike, I suppose that's the cause right there. If the dvds of season 4 are any indication, ENT is gonna benefit enormously from blu-ray.

And they looked infinitely better, if you ask me. There's something strangely artificial about that digital stuff. The material shot in digital just, I don't know... lacks soul. I suppose shooting in HD is less expensive, but I guess there's a good reason that Hollywood still hasn't accepted that "revolution" that George Lucas intended to start with Attack of the Clones.
