1.) UAC has mellowed out
2.) Explorer is no longer a pane in the behind
3.) Graphics cards coexist peacefully once more
4.) Clutter and bloat are reduced
5.) Boot performance is better
6.) Notifications can be fine-tuned
7.) Security messages are consolidated
8.) Side-by-side windows auto-size
9.) Home networking gets simple
10.) Taskbar preview really works

^^^I guess we'll see when I buy a computer that has Win7 or upgrade/modify/dual-boot my current machine.

I don't see the "distracting GUI" reason anywhere... Hope you can still turn all that junk off, in vista, it was nearly impossible to hide Explorer's toolbars.

coming straight from XP and having never bothered with Vista, I find 7 to be almost entirely appreciated. I'm a little annoyed by a few things (they still haven't fixed uploading to FTP through explorer, some programs don't match the other windows which is jarring for someone so visual as myself but this has been a problem for a while once programs started making their own 'window frames', the networking changes seem needlessly complicated with their useless new jargon, etc.)

They brought back minesweeper though, don't forget that!

I'm sure you can customize the UI to your preference.

Minesweeper went away? Just use Firefox or an FTP program like FileZilla. That's what I do. I won't even use IE unless I'm getting updates from Microshaft.

There was no minesweeper in my copy of XP, I had to download it. Might have depended on the version.

Not IE for FTP, explorer itself. I like just being able to open it like another folder on my hard drive. FireZilla and CuteFTP and CoreFTP and whatnot can't offer me that, and the few that are like that aren't compatible with 7 yet.
