Your opinion- Have we seen the last of the gold/red/blue uniforms?

Do you think it's possible JJ and company gave us the XI uniforms as sort of a bone thrown to the fans of TOS, and likely we'll see that Starfleet has moved on to some other design by the time of XII?

I'm not saying I'd like them to do it (or not). I'm just asking if you think this is a legitimate possibility.

I actually hope they do change the uniforms for the next film, but retain the gold, red, and blue branch colors somewhere in the design. Keep the black undershirt, trousers/miniskirts, the insignia, and rank stripes, but perhaps lose the jersey in lieu of a jacket or something...

I don't really think we'll see anything more than minor changes. I haven't seen anything from the creators to indicate they want to get away from the basic premise of movies based on the tv series. I would think the iconic imagery of the old school uniforms would stay, as well as sfx.

I'd like to see them use a different material, something slightly heavier and without the delta pattern weave. It bugged me that both the shirts and trousers looked constantly rumpled. Otherwise, keep 'em the same.

I absolutely adored the uniform material. Hope they keep it.

Then again, I wouldn't be that surprised if they changed it. Trek XI is the first to actually have anything like the TOS jerseys, and it wouldn't shock me if it were the only one.

That's how I feel about it too. Trek XI is where "old meets new," and now that we've seen the new cast in the "classic" uniforms, Trek XII might be where this cast may have their own unique movie-only uniforms that may further reinforce the idea of an alternate universe...

I think (and hope so) that they'll keep the uniforms as ithey are in Star Trek (2009).

I doubt it, I always though that having different uniforms for each movie (in the past) was ridiculous.

I actually thought some of the uniforms of TMP were pretty good. They even seemed on the cusp of something reasonably functional. But when you watch it it looks like they had several uniform ideas and variations and instead of picking one, you see alot of them used with no rhyme or reason.

I think the white tops/gray bottoms one was good. A little tweaking to that, some more pockets, etc., wouldnt be too bad. The TWOK red uniforms seemed a little too heavy to be worn as a daily duty uniform. We'll see.

The TMP uniforms were okay, but the color scheme was terrible.

^^ That could work, if they kept the normal length they do now, instead of going back to the too-short top-length of all the Series; nobody pulls their trousers up to their armpits anymore these days; it looks completely silly.

The colors were a problem in TMP, and anyone was wearing anything in it. Kirk wore the blue one, as well as others. No rhyme or reason.

Not sure what the dress version of the TWOK uniforms was. They seemed fairly dressy as is. I rewatched TWOK and TSFS the other day. If they thinned the jackets, shortened thema bit and maybe changed out the reddish/burgundy it would be an immediate improvment.

I love the TOS uniforms but I didn't think they worked particularily well in the new film. IMO, they looked too much like pajamas to be credible. The academy uniforms looked much better... Pike's in particular.

Of course, I would have been the first to cry fowl if they had not used the classic designs.
