2009 Emmy Award Nominations

Why does Vincent Kartheiser never get any recognition for Mad Men? I'd nominate him over Slattery. Kudos for Elizabeth Moss' nomination.

The lead comedy actor category should have included Zachary Levi and Lee Pace.

And yes, the blanket BSG snub in major categories is aggravating, but we expected that, didn't we?

The Emmy's have become The People Choice Awards but with a bigger budget and nicer statue.

The People's Choice awards are noticeably stupider! Mad Men and Breaking Bad wouldn't get close to a nomination, and instead we'd get CSI and Gray's Anatomy. :p

Flight of the Conchords.

That's funny. How is that received over there anyway?

Most people I know just cringe cos, well, we know and understand all the jokes they do as... normal.

"The Shield", "True Blood" and "Eastbound and Down" are the big ommissions. Also "In Treatment" should proably be on the list as well.

Yes we did. But that isn't going to stop me complaining about it. :rommie:

As for my People's Choice comment... I am prone to exaggeration when I am exasperated. :D

What an odd list of nominations. They seem to have 8000 nominations for Comedy, yet seem to have missed Scrubs 'final' series revival. Was Family Guy really better? Bit dubious. I've just gotten into Flight of the Conchords which I love, so nice to see a couple of nominations there.

Nods for Mad Men, Lost and Dexter so it's all good there. And of course Mary McDonnell shut out - don't know what I or anyone else was expecting really. Most of the acting noms are past-winners/nominees so good to see the awards as a giant clusterfuck. Again. :D

I really can't have a say on these nominations mainly because I don't watch that much (Only 30 Rock, Survivor, Amazing Race, and 24) but I am curious as to how SNL is nominated for actress roles in a comedy series or how Family Guy is nominated for best comedy. For one, Family Guy is awful, but even there, that series has never been nominated for best comedy before. That, and they couldn't even give BSG a best drama nod? Also, regarding SNL, I thought it was a variety show. That seems quite weird the nominations it got, even if I do like Amy Poehler.

Now that I've watched Entourage S5, I'd say it does deserve an Emmy nod, but in drama, not comedy. It's always been on the line but this season it's definitely gone over to drama (Johnny will be pleased). ;)

Oh, and Dr. Horrible was nominated for "Outstanding Special Class - Short-format Live-Action Entertainment Programs."

Plus there is a rumor that the cast of Dr. Horrible may perform a song during the Emmy's. Wouldn't be too surprising considering Neil Patrick Harris is hosting. Would be AWESOME.
I really hope this happens.

Yay for Aaron Paul's first nom for Breaking Bad, along with the defending Emmy winner, Bryan Cranston again being recognized for BB. But the cool thing is the nom for Breaking Bad for best drama. I just knew that once TPTB noticed Cranston's commanding performances they'd also recognize how great the show is. But 'Best Drama' and no writing noms? Oh well, next time.

Also happy to see Kristin Chenowith of the late lamented Pushing Daisies get recognized.

Why does Vincent Kartheiser never get any recognition for Mad Men?

1) Because everyone remembers how irritating he was in Angel.

Never saw Angel, so it doesn't bother me in the least. :p

2) Because all the men on the panel hate him for being in the same show as Christina Hendricks.
And they don't hate Slattery or Hamm? The former's character was sleeping with Hendrick's character. But then again, we know how illogical men can be... :rommie:

Just saw Gray Gardens. Drew Barrymore has got that Emmy wrapped up with a bow.

I don't know who they are but if they've been in the same room as Hendricks then I hate them.

Well I want Michael C. Hall and Aaron Paul to beat them in their categories, so go ahead and give them the mental internet hex.
