I think this article is about new shows, but not new series of long running shows. They're apparently filming soon. Robert Vaughn mentioned something about this series being set in Birmingham.Where is my god damn Hustle BBC.

It's not different though is it. It becomes just another detective story. If they wanted to do something different, why not set it in the future?Or it could just be that they want to do something different with a story that's been told many times before?

How do we know until it's aired, or at least till there's more information on the plot? It's not different though is it. It becomes just another detective story. But then it's just another detective story isn't it? Why not make it a cave man detective? It's not different though is it. It becomes just another detective story. Nah Mitchell and Webb have already done that.
Bring back Star Cops I say!!!
Well he might not have any of those things, we don't know yet. He could just be a small time Private eye or something for all we know right now. It's like removing the coolest aspect character. Holmes with CSI-style testing equipment and other modern investigating techniques at his disposal just doesn't interest me. I've hundreds of detective shows/stories for that.
From Broadcast
Actor Idris Elba, who played Stringer Bell in acclaimed US crime drama The Wire, is to star in BBC1 thriller Luther.
The six-part series, penned by Spooks-writer and novelist Neil Cross and produced in-house, centres on Elba’s character, John Luther, a “near-genius murder detective whose brilliant mind can’t always save him from the dangerous violence of his passions”.
Whereas traditional whodunits search for the murderer, each hour-long episode of the new drama will identify the culprit from the start, focusing attention on the dynamic – and similarities – between the detective and the murderer.
Elba said: “Luther is a challenging and exciting character because he’s so complex. While he’s capable of great kindness and loyalty, sometimes he steps over the edge of madness – simmering with anger and rage.”
I read it was supposed to be summer, but I'm guessing it's been pushed to the Winter season.Oh brilliant. Have admired Idris Elba since Ultraviolet so this has gone up a notch for me now...
Btw, anyone know when the new BBC Triffids serial starts?
I think Sherlock was originally announced last year, so the writing was probably done before series 5 got going, plus it's only 3 90 minute episodes not an on going series by the looks of it.When did Moffatt find the time to do another series? Then again, Russell Davies was able to juggle Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane...
Sherlock could be a big payoff for the BBC, especially if the new movie takes off and makes Holmes a hot property again.
