I guess I was wrong. There's never enough of these threads around on the TBBS.

Hi, everyone. Most of you who have read my posts over the years may know me as Drone36929 (if you don't, it's your loss). Maybe it's the summer heat getting to my head and affecting my judgment, but I've decided to start a brand new "I like you" thread as inspired by Mr. Holdfast's Cupid Escrow Service and Alidar Jarok's Awesome People You'd Like to Meet threads.

As founder and chairman of the Mutual Admiration Society (MAS), I challenge each and every one of you to say something nice and constructive about your fellow BBSers. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to kiss someone's ass (not literally) as much as you like. I don't care if you have to flood other users' inboxes with privates messages; I don't care if you have to post compliments. Just do it.

This thread is not just for "groups of friends" who know one another on- and off-line. Everyone is welcome to participate and exchange hollow pleasantries and perfunctory praises, especially those of you feeling sorry for yourselves for not making it to someone's list. You don't even have to know the person to say something nice to them! You could be a MISC, SFF, LOST, GTVM regular or just a lurker. Schmoozers are welcome. That's the beauty of it!

* No harassing, defamatory, derogatory, or obscene comments allowed.

You totally shouldn't have started this thread. I love threads like this. I could say nice things about people forever! But I had to stop somewhere. So here's a partial, incomplete list with some added commentary about some of the posters I appreciate having around. Some of you I know better than others, some of you I may have totally wrong, but these are just some of the things I like about you guys.

Aurian – Great sense of humor, lots of compassion and seemingly wise

An Officer – Witty and lively, with the ability to tease others about something superficial or discuss something in depth

JonathanWally – Patient, charming, and AWESOME

Ashu – sweet and full of the unexpected (in a good way)

Hermiod – Lovely guy, thought-provoking, and occasionally not grumpy

Alidar Jarock – solid guy, full of good conversation and casual charm

Emher – sweet, funny, with the rare ability to laugh at himself

J. Allen – generous, kind, dedicated, and ever the gentleman

Arrghman – witty, enlightening, and someone I’d like to know more about

Digits – kind, sensible, and patient

Auntiehill – honest, livens up the board, and has an avatar that always makes me laugh

Zion Ravescene – incredibly goofy, eccentric, and a general nice guy

kimc – always a great addition in any thread; sensible, funny, and concise

Omnius – always nice and cheery; makes me smile to see his posts!

MissChicken – careful, kind, and thoughtful; starts great threads

Mallory – really funny and I suspect a nice guy

RJDiogenes – full of wisdom and humor, and a source of inspiration

OracZen – compassionate and also funny as hell

WWJW – nice, sensible, and an essential presence on the board

thestrangequark – creative, talented like none other, and just really admirable

Misfit Toy – sharp wit and excellent humor

AstroSmurf – a sweetheart

Neeka Keet – just an awesome, chill lady that I would love to hang out with in RL

blablover – endless source of humor, creative, and very easygoing

Camelopard – a very valuable poster with solid posts; always educational

Trekker4747 – a funny guy who keeps Misc going

flamingliberal – perhaps my complete opposite! Always a pleasure to see her post in any thread, great sense of humor and an enviable ability to shut down other people’s nonsense

RoJoHen – unique posting style, very easygoing and someone I’d have fun just hanging out with

DarkJourney – honest, intelligent, and a great guy

trampledamage – someone I could definitely enjoy conversing with one on one; a nice person with some good wisdom as well

K'ehleyr – so laidback and a refreshing addition to the board; I love reading her posts!

Squiggyfm – easily one of the funniest guys on the board, but also a very decent guy


And a special shout out to Locutus of Bored. You’re a solid, awesome guy. Willing to do the right thing even if it’s unpopular. Funny and sarcastic and idealistic all at the same time. Cherished friend and great source of both knowledge and wisdom.

I also would like to acknowledge the mods here and in other fora with whom I've had interesting discussions, e.g., PKTrekGirl, Top41, mrcoaster, and of course, Holdfast, who knows a lot of our juicy secrets as well as online crushes.

I miss some of the folks who aren't here anymore, Sheniferous, RedFenix, etc.

As for posting something nice bout someone, it's really hard to do, so for now, until I can think of something more creative, Im going to make a general admiration post. Ive almost been here for 3 years now and I don`t think I have ever stuck to one thing for so long while still enjoying it. I know i get irritable here and there with certain posters but that normally doesnt last long. In a weird way you all have been like an alternative family to me, only if i dont want to listen i hit the logout or ignore button.

Everyone here treated me more decently than a lot of people have in real life. While I don`t post as much as I used to this is still my favourite place on the interweb because of you posters.

And for that, I say thank you.
