I think that toward the end of the panel we were about tied.
Sorry I missed the Shards and Shadows panel. I was stuck sitting on recruiting duty at the STARFLEET: International table behind the escalators. And the only person I was able to talk into taking a flyer for my group was Allyn.
My general thoughts... attendance was down because cons are expensive. If the HVI wants to feed us crappy hot dogs and cold fries they should cut the prices in half because then we won't complain about the lousy food. And WTF happened to the Cheeburger Cheeburger over in Hunt Valley Mall??
What panels I got to were cool, and I loved the opportunity to sit in on the Chronic Rift podcast. Unfortunately, I spent most of Saturday afternoon in the bar watching my best friend's brother's marriage fall apart via text message.
Of course, I really only go to Shore Leave now for the Pocket Books stuff. The programming outside of that gets thinner every year. C'mon, NO Eureka panels? How's about the committee surveying us to get programming ideas, not for marketing info?
Oh, and I hate having karaoke in that dive diner on Saturdays. Acoustics SUCK. But next Shore Leave, I do encourage everyone to at least poke their noses in, wherever they end up having Vic's Place. The guys that run the thing are good friends of mine.

I don't know; the dozen reasons I gave for why I attended Shore Leave this year for the first time ever can't possibly be helpful to them.
I should explain that previous sentence, but it's one of those things where you really had to be there.... Suffice it to say, I've been attending Shore Leave for a decade now. And draw from that your own conclusions.

Here is what I would have said, had I not been too lazy to fill it out:
- Food: ridiculously overpriced even for a hotel. I've eaten cheaper in Europe at better places. Plus get a cooler in the snack bar that COOLS the drinks.
- Free Internet. A nice surprise.
Didn't they used to charge for that? Or am I misremembering?

It became a personal goal of mine to create the wackiest reason possible for attending Shore Leave. My personal favorite? "Harlan Ellison told me I could find good jelly beans here."
I'm pretty sure they did charge for it in the past.
I know they did in 2006, because I brought my laptop but couldn't/wouldn't use it.
Air conditioning that consistently worked would have been nice. I spent most of the con not sure whether I would be oppressed by stagnant humid air or freeze my arse off.
Yeah, they were charging for the Internet up until this year. I was surprised when I didn't have to call and get a login key for the wi-fi.
As for the food, I live in New York. *shrug*

I thought I had paid for the 'net a few years ago. And it wasn't a great deal, as I didn't go on that much.

Part of the enjoyment of being a poster and not a mod is not having to deal with the sometimes annoying crap that one must deal with behind-the-scenes to keep the board pleasant for the regular posters.
