I Pledge Allegiance...Umm, no I don't!

I can certainly explain why someone might not wish to participate in such a bizarre and childish ritual. What on Earth is gained by chanting like a morning assembly in a seat of national government? Your constitution, which you so cheerily imply your opponent is burning in your avatar, grants the right to anyone not to stand or say the pledge of allegiance.
And touching someone on the arm and saying 'we're protesting, remember buddy?' is not the same as 'he was pulled down' nor 'ACTIVELY preventing another'.

It looks like they didn't want to recognize anything started by Republicans there.

But as for in general the why would usually be some kind of political protest or maybe they just don't believe in swearing allegiances. It could be for any number of reasons.

For the same reason one would have an avatar of President Obama in front of a burning constitution, especially when the the previous president did far, FAR more to "burn it" than Obama has -who's only been in office for six months.

Yeah, but it's obvious TLS is ironically blinded by his own devotion to the Republican Party to see how backwards his avatar and his argument are about Constitutional rights.

Oh, I understand it's their right to do whatever they want or not. However, I just think it's a silly thing to protest. And you had two people in the video determined to prevent this guy from standing up.

Let's put it into some perspective on burning the Constitution.

The highly controversial no-warrant surveillance program initiated after the September 11 terrorist attacks relied on a "factually flawed" legal analysis inappropriately provided by a single Justice Department official, according to a report to Congress on Friday.
CNN

But I doubt we'll hear much about this because by god, those Democrats did not pledge allegiance to a flag desecrated by the previous President.

I'm not a republican.
No? You only act like one I guess.

I've said it here before, I never say the pledge, never stand for the anthem. I see it as a needless, both of them. As seeing as my long term goal is it ex patriot myself from the USA, then I feel it would be hypocritical for me to do so.

Because the best way to show that you love your country is to do good deeds and not by paying lip-service to ideals you have no intention of upholding?

Why are you leaving?

Frankly? I don't any particular love or loyalty for the US after 8 years of Bush and the gang, thought they're not the sole cause. So once the paperwork is done and dusted, so long USA, hello Canada.

Though to be fair, I stopped saying the pledge and stopped standing years before he came into office.

Well, if "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" is lip service, count me in. I agree with you on good deeds though!

Best of luck. Stay warm.

Is it really a good idea to go down that road in Misc considering everything that's just happened?

What just happened? Link? I was on vacation for a week and I missed a blowout? Why am I never here for the good stuff?

Found it!

Here ya' go

Frankly, I don't understand why anyone would want to pledge allegiance to a flag in the first place. It's just a piece of cloth.

Well-- IMO-- I think it should be the Constitution [which is what I was saying before I stopped all together] or just "I Pledge allegiance to the united states of America..."; take flag out entirely.
