Wipeout

I've been watching this show for a few weeks now. At first, I thought it was a stupid show, but now I find it a great release from studying for the Bar.

I cannot believe these people are willing to endure this.

Anyone else watch it?

Anyone know if the people sustain bad injuries?

One lady hurt her shoulder and had to drop out, but that's all I know. I can't believe there have been no broken bones or broken teeth...

I don't make an effort to tune in, but sometimes it's on at the gym so I watch Jill Wagner.

I think it would be fun to attempt, maybe with friends. Not something I'd want to do for national TV. As a kid, I wanted to be on Double Dare.

I'm addicted. Tonight some lady looked like she may have broken her neck on the Big Balls but she was still moving.

BIG BALLS!

My 7 year old loves it, we watch it together every week.
Lately we've been saying good night to each other with their sign off "Goodnight, and big balls!"

This is my family's favorite show on tv..we just watched it last night. The couples angle was pretty cool...but could you imagine a crossover episode with the BIGGEST LOSER???

Terrible show, but also entertaining, and when nothing's on, I can't help but watch.

I also don't understand how few injuries there are. That woman with her neck tonight, don't understand how she walked away. So many horrible looking falls, seems should be more injuries.

Definitely looks like fun, and something I'd like to try once with friends, though. Reading a review of a reporter who tried it, though, a lot less fun that it looks, i guess. Not filmed in a warm area, so the water (and weather in general) were apparently really cold, making it a lot more miserable. Still though, I'd give it a go...

Where is it filmed? And yes, I bet they have to sign a disclaimer before they go on. Last week this dude hit his face so hard on one of those landings I was shocked he didn't lose any teeth...

I do like the hosts, though I like the funny one better (the one on the right) The problem is their names are so similar..John Anderson and John Henderson. The one with the glasses, I like him, but he needs to go in favor of either a woman co-host or a black host. I know, sounds PC. But as a producer? That would be my first 'tinkering' with the show...

And bring back the talking BIG BALL

Spike cancels MXC, yet now we get this stupid knockoff?

It's just not the same without Vic Romano, Kenny Blankenship, and Guy LeDouche...

I love this show. It's great escapist fun and I get to laugh at people falling on their rear ends over $50,000.

The only think I really miss that they've changed is the Wrecking Ball.

I steer clear of it. It's a total ripoff of MXC.
No it's a ripoff of NINJA WARRIOR! (It's named something else in it's native japan)

The difference is that Ninja Warrior, while insanely difficult and requiring more upper body strength than 99% of Americans could possibly muster, is doable. But I suspect even the heartiest Ninja Warriors would have a tough time with Wipeout. The qualifier round seems specifically designed to be impossible without looking impossible. Although, oddly, it's not impossible. It's very rare but I have seen a couple guys traverse the big balls & the fender bender. (If there's a secret to it, I think you just have to have really long legs.)

I'd rather have more American Gladiators. I'm a fan of obstacle courses but I'm more entertained when people succeed at running difficult courses rather than when they spectacularly fail. I love the concept of Wipeout but I don't care for its tone.

That is something I've been thinking about the last few weeks. I would love to see more people go through the big balls successfully, or have someone just do well in the Wipeout zone. One thing I like is the excitement factor at the end of the show where it is bad if you wipeout. Would love to see more success on the show, but that would require a change of tone unfortunately.

You know there has to be a special VIDEO coming out showing all the lost teeth..some of those smashes to the face look pretty rough...I wonder if they will put out an uncensored version..
