All I needed was a knotted hankie...

And merging topics again ~ the fish slapping dance with Cleese and Palin:guffaw:

Ok beach pun thread emerging ~ no (sea) weedy puns allowed!
Or Python? I'm so beached out I don't deckchair...

It must be wonderful to have a home near the beach and go whenever you like in good weather... *Sigh*

I hate all our tbbs LA peeps. *Sticks tongue out* :p

Yet none of them have said they did their toes daily in the ocean.

I would live by the sea given the chance, hell I'd live in a beach hut if I could afford one

^ I used to live on the coast, but never swam in the sea there.

It was Scarborough, mind you. Not the best place for a swim...

Haven't swum in the sea since 2004 when everyone in the family went to Crete together. Best visit to the sea was to a beach in a cove at the south side of the island that didn't have sand on it but small fine round pebbles. And the water was very clear. Fantastic place, defiently going back some day. Or I might go to the Maldives first!

Bit chilly I bet!

I do have one embarrassing tale from the beach before I go as son is back and wants machine...

How to change out of a swimsuit on the beach.

Find reasonable sized breakwater to hide behind.
Dry out in the sun.
Slip strappy dress over head and wriggle out of suit.
Pull on knickers.
Insert bra into front of dress, slip on straps and fasten behind taking great care not to fasten it outside of the straps of the dress . Yes it was funny for some:lol:

Pics or it didn't happen.

kind of strange to have this thread come up now. we took my partners niece out to walton on the naze tuesday just gone. they had a swim while i went up to my waist as i'm not a good swimmer then walked along the beach collected a few bits of follised wood and a couple of sharks teeth. then walked along the naze. it was one of the best days out i've had in a long while didnt need to spend much money and it was a dam bit cooler then in land.

Agreed ~ a day by the sea is soul lifting :)
My son and I used to go a lot when he was younger but not often was it warm enough it dip in so a lot of time was spent in penny arcades and the crazy golf (which we got very competitive at ) He was mad about collecting 'shiny stones' (cracked stones with salt crystals in) and although he was being very 16 and very cool yesterday it wasn't long before he turned to his girl friend and said 'let's go looking for shiny stones'

The seaside brings out the kid in all of us ~ long let it last :techman:

Oh and it carried over to today, when I heard the ice-cream man I had to run out for a 99! (ps with inflation they're now £1.30:eek:)

^ Everything gets smaller and never tastes ad good as it used to. Except for Twister lollies - they are unfailingly fab! :D

Had a day on the beach today. Why have I been sweltering here when in a hours drive I can be in jolly Bognor Regis?
That's a great name. :D I can't swim, but the last time I went wading in the ocean was two years ago, at a friend's house down the Cape.

Never. I've never felt safe going out far on beaches during low tide because I know how a turning tide can and does cut people off unexpectedly. Nor can I swim.
Yikes, that reminds me of a time down at Hough's Neck when I was ten years old and the undertoe got me. Luckily my Uncle Mike was there to save me....

It was Scarborough, mind you. Not the best place for a swim...
Did you ever go to Scarborough Fair...?

^ Not that I recall - I bought my parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme from the market...

:D

Oh well done you! All I had in my head was lots of wives and pigs and things in the totally wrong part of the country
