My anti-perspirent works too well

The other day I had to pick up some new deodorant, and I saw that the AXE sticks were on sale. 2 for $3. Not too shabby, considering the Old Spice I normally buy it about $4 for one. So I picked up the AXE stuff just to try it out, and I have to say, it works way too well.

It works so well that I cannot even remove it in the shower. It's waterproof or something. I have to scrub and rinse my armpits 3 times with soap before I can get it to come off! I mean, it's great because it's definitely keeping me dry when I sweat, but good lord.

Well, just keep scrubbing, Trekker, and it'll come off eventually. Use a loofah if you must.

I wish I had the same problem -- I always sweat a lot when it's hot, so much that you can see it in my shirt. Fortunately, my sweat is nearly odorless and I wear black shirts. The problems begin when it dries up -- you'd get those awful white rings. Using (any) deodorant only makes me sweat more. I usually use axe, but it's been 'washed away' after an hour or so. Special anti-perspiration solutions (those you have to dip on each evening) don't work nearly as well as advertised -- they're supposed to clog up where all the perspiration's coming trough, but all they manage to do is make me perspire harder, so the end result is still the same. It's not horifically bad or anything, but it is enough that, in hot weather, I'm always the one with sweaty armpits.

I wish I had yours.

I'm a bit scared of all the chemicals and metals they use in anti-perspirents and deodorants, so I use a crystal of potassium alum stick instead.

Yeeeaahhh don't have this problem. I actually have to used an extra strong anti-perspirant every three days in combination with my regular one to stay remotely dry.

I too use the Axe stick stuff and I too have trouble getting the stuff off in the shower. I suppose it's better then it only lasting a few hours...

I tried Axe, and I didn't care for it. I never had any trouble getting it off in the shower, but the scent was much too strong.

I use Axe shower gel, but not their deodorant. For that, Old Spice Red Zone works a lot better for me.

Axe products are banned from my home If my son EVER thinks about spraying that noxious g'ass inside again there is going to be very much pain sticks and discommendation. I will then sing songs over his smelly corpse. Which reminds me, I'm picking him up in just a few hours

As far as I know, this is how all anti-perspirents work, dipping or no. Essentially they're loaded with aluminum which is designed to clog up your sweat pores. Apparently it also acts as a neurotoxin. Hurray!

The only thing I've personally found effective so far is to basically go to town with some antibacterial hand soap under my arms. The bad odors we associate with sweat are really just bacteria going to town on your skin's excretions. Your three choices are either cut off their food supply with an antipersperant, attempt to hide their smell with a deodorant or just try and (temporarily) kill most of 'em. I am a smelly, smelly man apparently so I took the fight to them.

And if I were talking about the body spray, I would agree with you, but I'm talking about the regular stick deodorant.

It's actually the first deodorant I've ever used that lasts the whole day!

I only use deodorant. I am a HEAVY sweater, I go through shirts twice as fast as most people when working outdoors. But in normal circumstances, what the hell is the point? And if you're working hard, what is the point of stopping up the underarm pores while the rest of the body sweats out? (And I can sweat through a pair of jeans even)
I used to sweat a lot from my underarms when not engaged in physical activity, and used anti-perspirant. This was in middle school. When I stopped using it, the problem went away.
I really don't think the stuff is necessary, and this is from a guy who sweats like a fountain. But not at resting pace.

To be fair to the RoJoHen, he uses the roll-on, and I'm sure that is not as detectable as the spray. probably completely different, especially if you don't decide to swim in it like my neighbour does. I think he must spray it from head to toe...
