Trek XI concept art gone missing...

darkwing_duck1

Vice Admiral
Ryan's beautiful Trek XI concept art has been taken down apparently. The Trekmovie articles about it have ALSO been taken down.

I have an email in to the EIC over there asking if he can tell us what's happening...

Well, if they really wanted to make a book; taking the concept art offline would be the first thing I would have done.

Absurd. You don't pull the hook out of the water just because fish are known to be nearby, with the expectation they'll just jump into your boat.

If that were the case, nobody'd ever authorize illustrated magazines or heavy coverage in outside periodicals for fear of killing interest in a making-of.

Also, there are going to be REAMS of material, far more than can be accomodated in any volume. Just on something like MISSION TO MARS, they had a huge CD of images, something on the order of a dozen designers with 30-40 designs apiece.

I think he may of had some bandwidth problems.

The pictures are still on his site, just not readability accessible.

I ran across a website that has direct links to the artwork, but now I'm not too sure of how ethical it would be since Ryan has taken them away for the general public for some apparent reason.

I was also thinking the bandwidth issue would the most likely explanation. His site was probably getting pounded with a lot more traffic than it was ever expected to get.

I have the big version of the pictures in my photobucket and can post them if it's allowed...

I was kind of hoping we'd get an explanation via TrekMovie.com about what happened, but since the James Clyne concept art is still viewable, I'm assuming that it's not a Paramount legal/copyright problem. It's weird that only the pathway to the Star Trek images seems to be blocked at Church's site, though.

I'll tentatively say that it's okay for you to post the ones you have. If that becomes an issue for any reason, we'll just take them down again.

^ The second group is the James Clyne concept art. Some nifty stuff there, too.

It's not quite the same (straight instead of curved) but his one reminds me of that mysterious corridor which turned up on the early "Shipyard NCC-1701" viral site.

Yes, that's what i was thinking too.
