Normally when we're in the mood to indulge I post an ad on the local Craigslist and screen folks and go from there.

Today, I put my ad up, after going live the I refresh my email and have 300 responses.

What the--

All of them bots, all of them trying to get me to register a SSN AND credit card number.

Refresh again, over a thousand.

All bots.

At this point I have deleted over 7,500 bot requests, most registered to the same set of email addresses.



Yikes. You'd better believe I've complained to Craigslist about this, but I doubt seriously they'll do anything about it.

Clueless dolt looking to foolishly enter credit card and SSN number into random websites. Was born yesterday, spent most of the time under a rock.

Specially looking to gawk at some titties, fake profile information nice but not required. Please respond via email.

Oh and by the way I now have a method of tracing emails. Any further bot requests to my ads will result in a call to your IP, you will be reported for fraud.

Guess what? The exact same set of spambots replied to it begging me to join the exact same site.


Up to 1,500 replies. So far my complaints to Craigslist "managment" have gone unanswered.

It's good for many things, Plecostomus and I use it for this sort of thing often, also we buy and sell books and tools on here as well.

Not tonight though, seems that the entire system is being over-run with mining bots and no one is getting anything through the system. Rather annoying really.

If this keeps up we'll have to find another local hookup site.

It's good for many things, Plecostomus and I use it for this sort of thing often, also we buy and sell books and tools on here as well.

Yeah I heartily discourage you from trying to score a "first time" this way.
