Cellphone Technology Question!

I have the option of buying an older Ipaq h6300 pocket PC/phone from a friend.

Question arises from the fact it was used with T-Mobile and I'm a staunch loyal AT&T user. If I switch my wife will kill me and unholy my corpse.

Anyway, the questions are 1) can this thing be used with the AT&T network, 2) The SIM-card from my Go-Phone looks like it'll physically fit in the slot, question is will this work as a Go-Phone in the case of 1) being yes?

Normally I'd ask The Wife as she used to sell cellphones by the seashore (heh) but she's Very Busy and so am I.

Normally I would say the phone would need to be unlocked first, but I don't know that phone.

The safe bet your ago was T-MO and Cingular phones would work on eachother's networks with ease. And since AT&T is cingular, you should be in luck, just going to have get the phone unlocked first.

Cellphone Goddess warns me to stay FAR AWAY from this device as they are known problem phones and there is a reason that it is being unloaded for $50.

Yeah, those HP PDAs are garbage. You would only be able to use it as a GoPhone if it were a GSM device, but I'm about 99% sure it isn't. However, I am 100% sure its a CRAP device.

For $50 I'd hack it, put linux on it, amplify the wifi and bluetooth antenae and use it for my securities work. Like I frankensteined my Dell Axiom.
