Kirk Knows EVERYTHING

xanderwess

Commander
Red Shirt
Correct me if I am wrong, but since Kirk did a mind meld with Old Spock, doenst he know everything now?
Won't he just be able to head off all of the Non-Nero changed catastrophys before they happen?
Maybe just show up to the planet with the flying fryed eggs and zap them before his brothers family is killed; Pick up Khan and crew and KEEP them frozen until they are safely towed back to Earth and some rehab;, show up with a bigass bomb and blow up the planet killer right when it shows up..........keep David interested in Sports instead of science?
see what I mean? Shouldn't he know all this stuff is going to happen and take care of it before it happens?

Why would he know everything ?
Spock shared with him just all the Nero related backstory, not his entire life...

No, Vulcans can shield off certain things in a mind meld. Kirk wouldn't be able to probe deeper into Spock's mind. Surely Spock would keep most future events shielded in his mind.

Will Old Spock tell the Federation how to stop the Doomsday Machine or the Giant Amoeba -- both of which I assume are still on course to be threats to the Federation?

I didn't know that it was selective, since on ENT that T'pol was wiggin' out because of the embarrassemnt of mindmeld and the exchange of knowlegde (and I think her feelings for Trip)
I just read up on Memory Alpha and it said that the initiator can shield their thoughts, so maybe Spock did that. Maybe not.....

I expect certain emotions could "leak" as it were during the mind meld, but it's definitely not a full mind-swap process. Especially not with a Vulcan as old and well-trained as Spock

In a Vulcan-Vulcan meld, one an probe deeper into the mind, even getting to things suppressed deeply. This takes quite a bit of effort and tends to feel violating, as in the case of T'pol. I doubt a human can control a meld at all.

Then put it this way -- future drama in this universe is best served if the answer is NO.

Spock shared nothing in the meld but the immediate backstory for Nero's coming and his own feelings of guilt for failing to save the day and prevent all this from happening.

Then, aloud, he shared only enough info to get nuKirk into the Captain's chair and keep nuSpock in Starfleet.

(Well, along with providing the miracle of transwarp beaming -- many decades ahead of its time, I presume. Perhaps even a Century or more? Isn't that an advancement beyond TNG too?

Though, I suppose it could still take nuScott some years to recreate the work and fully understand it all. He did have Spock's assistance in rigging that transporter. I can imagine Spock then dismantled the setup and erased the formula before leaving.)

Prime-Spock... the mind-meld link between everybody. He's melded with both Kirk's and Picard.

Toruika, did you see TWoK last night? It was on one of the movie channels; I just caught the tail-end of that.

Since Spock was sharing something which had been developed in the prime timeline by Montgomery Scott himself (presumably in the later part of his career), then no, I'd guess not a century ahead nor (as it was still an experimental technique and in need of fine-tuning) necessarily an advancement beyond TNG.

Spock-Prime is going to die horribly in the next movie, keeping whoever the villain is, from correcting Nero's interference with the now-existing time line because Spock-Prime can't be sure that any attempt to correct things won't make it worse...

And He'll convince Nu-Kirk and Nu-Spock to be the Vanguards of the Leave-Well-Enough-Alone, mentality...

Even though They'll both want to bring back the planet Vulcan to save this Trek Universes' Federation from complete dissolution...

No I'm pretty sure Scotty used the formula to get Kirk and Spock to the Narada.

Spock used future-Scotty's transwarp beaming formula to put Kirk and Scotty onto the Enterprise.

Scotty already knew how to beam Kirk and Spock to the Narada. That's what that whole conversation about grapefruit and Admiral Archer's dog and exile to that Federation outpost without food was about.
