Special cameo in Trek XI

Roshi

A couple of years ago, JJ made an appearance at a university where he talked a great deal of how he envisioned movie making. I know there was this teacher who was terminally ill then and JJ offered him a role in the film.
Could you please tell me again what was the name of that now deceased guy and point me what part he had in Trek XI?

Thanks.

I believe you're referring to Randy Pausch. He played a member of the Kelvin bridge crew. There's a thread about him around here somewhere.

His last lecture can be viewed here.
His Carnegie-Mellon University home page is here.

in one of the Kelvin scenes, he's the one who walks behind Robau and says "We have visual, Captain."

I went to one of his lectures. he was a great guy.

I did think about mentioning that, but it was pretty late here at the time I posted and I just forgot while rounding up the other links. :o
There, there; nobody expects you to do it all. And you have to leave a little something for the rest of us to do!
