I'm going to Nashville, TN. Any suggestions?

I'm going to the USA in around 10 days, in Nashville, TN. I'm going to stay for 9 days but I only have 2-3 days free for sightseeing. I'm going to be there on the 4th of July and, since it is a national holiday there, I guess there are going to be some celebrations but other that that I'm clueless.

Have you ever been to Nashville? Do you have any other suggestions about things I should see or do while in the area?

If you click on the "Visitors" link and then click on the "Visitors Guide" it will take you to a PDF of the city's visitors guide. It is full of maps and information that you might find very helpful.

But the downtown area and what is know as Music City is probably your best bet for entertainment, shopping, tourist attractions. Nashville is a beautiful city, which was something of a surprise for me when I moved here. The people are also very friendly and you never know when you will run into a celebrity. We just treat them like everyone else so they tend to wonder the streets without fear.

the fourth is a big big holiday here.
and also massive as in crowd size.

it is down at river front park even though some of the fireworks can be seen as far away as the adventure science museum.

it is an afternoon and nightmare affair with music, food, boat parade and then the symphony and the fireworks.

if you are going to stay any where in the opryland area you might want to
investigate taking the train.. the donelson stop isnt to far from the hotel .

really as far as what do depends on what you are interested in.
music.. have all kinds.
food.. once again depends on what you like.

have the frist museum of art, cheekwood with its gardens and the parthenon.

you are catching a break because our heat spell is supposed to break next week.

^ I don't think so. I can't find a listing for it anywhere. But any city that has an Imax theater plus a dozen state-of-the-art stadium seating cinemas will tend to see those old main street/hometown theaters disappear rather quickly. It's sad to see so much history vanish silently into the past. I remember the one from my hometown and I loved to sit in the balcony. (You never see balcony seating anymore!) It is now a night club with horrible music, overpriced drinks, sleazy girls dressed like hookers and filthy bathrooms.

There's a giant replica of a Greek Temple there with a statue of Athena. I've been wanting to see it for awhile. They actually use it in documentaries on the History channel quite a bit.

Edit: They rebuilt the Parthenon there.

You have no idea! I have never seen so many of them in one place and I lived out in the backwoods of the Blue Ridge Mountains for three years. Why would people in a bustling city need such a ginormous auto? Is it so they have plenty of space to stretch out in while they wait in traffic on the beltway? And I rarely see more than one person in them so it can't be to ride in the carpool lane.
