How many minutes total were excised from the film? I thought it was like 10 or so. And 12? Them's not even fighting words to Jeri, who's probably stifling a big yawn.

Not at all! I love it. My plan is working. The red flag waves, and fans must charge.

I'm at 18 now -- with plans to visit the IMAX on Tuesday evening, its last night. (I don't suppose there's any chance it will ever return to the IMAX after Transformers...?)

doggeh, when the movie leaves our cinema, I may be driving in to see the AMC 30.

We shall see! My wife is going to loosen the leash this weekend. I have a friend for the family who works at the local theatre. Going to let me see the movie and then keep going back in after they clean it...sure it will only play three times a day now, saturday-sunday, but I see six times in my future!!! which will put me at 18!!!

Read it Jeri! You are in my target!!! Well...hopefully! I can see #18...but beyond that? I think time is not on myside. I dont see it being in the theatres too much longer. And where I live, we no longer have the $1 theatres.

I was actually impressed, when I saw it in IMAX last weekend, that there were fifty-sixty people there at 12midnight. That's pretty good.

On an aside? I saw NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2 this weekend, in IMax, with my son. We liked it, but both agreed the first one was better...

250million, for a star trek movie, domestically, is great news. This new series is off to a good start. All we need now is for CBS/Paramount TV to come along now and churn out another TV show. I hope they do not do that...it would a dreadful mistake; IMO.

Agreed, a TV show is a mistake. They need something to compliment the new movie and help out the sequel. I personally think that a kids cartoon is the best way to go, set onboard the new ship with the new crew.

That's great, especially for a midnight show. I can't make those myself. That's probably a sport for younger viewers, so that sounds encouraging. I'm glad you're still enjoying it!

Yep, I agree. I think it should be in the style of the new Brave and the Bold cartoon; very campy and very kid friendly. It could even be a Kirk-cadet cartoon or something like that...but not aimed at the teenagers. Aimed at the 8-10 year olds like Brave and the Bold but with 'dialog' that will catch our (adults) ears time to time.

Elsewhere someone thought they should do a cartoon for adult-swim kind of audience. I think that would be a dreadful mistake. Star Trek had its 'dark brooding' era (DS9) and did it well. A dark/moody cartoon with 'seth green' kind of humor just wouldn't be the way to go IMO.

Kids....hook them young and you have a crop of eager minds to 'assimilate' as they get older.

Staying on topic? I remember reading several threads earlier this year, and last year (I wont go 'bump' them up, in fear of being warned not to do so) when some of our nay-saying friends were predicting a bomb. Where are these doomsayers now? Their silence speaks volumes...

A Star Trek cartoon for 8-13yr olds would be ideal at this point because Trek XI is the most kid-friendly product Trek has ever done.

Transformers, X-Men and Batman have cartoons that co-exist with the movies, they pass the adults by but the kids love it and toy sales would go through the roof, plus more and more kids watch the cartoon and then watch Trek XII - win win.

And all us fanboys watch it anyway - 5% complain whilst the other 95% tell them to shush :P

Michael Bay apparently won't be making a third Transformers film... I read an article that mentioned the leaked memo in the piece Dennis posted, and he says that he wants to try doing something "totally divergent, something without any explosions." Good luck Michael. It's nice to see him wanting to branch outside his comfort zone, but I'm not exactly optimistic about the prospects.

As for Trek, even though it's just gravy at this point, it's still nice to see the film continuing to perform solidly after a month and a half of being in theatres. Regrettably, I contributed not to Trek this weekend, but to The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (it was my dad's choice -- it was Father's Day after all, and since we've each already seen ST twice, he wanted to see something else). But, as I've stated before, it's good to know that this film doesn't actually need the repeated patronage of fans like me to be a success.

she's seen it 18 times now. she'll probably do 20 by this weekend. she's left us all far behind. I'm not sure yet if nebula1400 can catch up to her.
