Does anyone know, has seen or has some images of the klingons in this movie?

This question arrises as to know if the klingons look as ugly as in "Enterprise" or do they have some cool ridges as in the TOS movies?

The romulans looked quite good on this movie... so... anyone?

I believe there's a deleted scene with Nero breaking out of a Klingon prison...there's ashot of him beating/stabbing two guards on one of the early trailers.
It looked like the Klingons had helmets on.

There was a brief, fraction-of-a-second glimpse in the November trailer, not long enough to tell exactly what's happening. It looked like this:

It's been presumed that the setting is Rura Penthe and that the guys in the helmets are Klingon prison guards. And that's it.

I think the masks on the guards were put in so they didn't have to address the issue right away. While I' never liked the *ugly* Kilingons like in the movies, TNG, DS9, and first half of ENT, I don't want a completly a human looking one either. I'm really hoping there's something there, like the more subtle ridges on General Chang in VI. The actor actually requested they make his make-up less severe. If you're going to hire Christopher Plummer to be your bad guy you might as well get your money's worth and show his whole damn face.

The biggest problem I've always had with the Kilingon make up design is the forehead ridges; they look like an oval-shaped lumpy tumor growing in the middle of the actor's head. Its really not streamlined or symmetrical with of rest of the face. At best they look like a Mongolians with a skin problem, at worst they're a deformed Neanderthal who has to tilt their head up just to look past their ginormous eyebrows.

The alternate direction would be a top-down redesign of the Kilingon face. I'm talking full facial prosthesis like the Uruk Hai in the Lord of the Rings. Using a less extreme version of that as the model you could make the Klingon actually scary again. That seems less likely. The point is moot, of course.

If you compare the looks of General Korrd, General Chang Gorkon and Worf to the Voy/Enterprise klingons, ent. klingons look quite deformed and savage. They don't look like the kind of people who would be able to run an empire and look flat out ugly and irrelevant

It is quite possible that they are wearing rigged helmets because they are among the Klingons that were infected with the Augment Virus and look more Human now. Since ENT did happen in both universes.

there's suppose to be more then 5 minutes of deleted rura penthe sceens on the dvd when it's released...

Ah, now there's a can of worms. You can tell how capable a group of people are of running things by how they look, can you?

Actually, I think Westmore refined the rather haphazardly designed Klingon appliance design from the movies quite nicely. Modern Trek Klingons are much better looking than the ones in the TOS-based movies, and the Klingons in "The Undiscovered Country" looked like humans wearing plastic bald caps with a few bumps on them.

Someone had the idea of being able to bridge the two versions of Klingons that I liked. They're like werewolves. They start out like TOS human-looking version but can "wolfout" into the big, bloodthirsty, forehead ridged ones we know and love when battle starts. I think that works.

I think it'd be interesting to show both types.. from what I got from various write-ups was that the infected (and their descendants) were the ones who explored and moved the borders of Klingon territory. So it's possible that the ridged Klingons would be closer to home. Given the personality changes, it could be a good environment for a catalyst of civil unrest within the empire. The question then would be, of the ships destroyed in the movie, how many were manned by humanesque Klingons, and how many, ridged Klingons?

I did miss Klingons in this movie. I really hope they'll come into play in the next one.

That would be a nice subversion to have both inhabiting the same universe. You have a seven foot tall bumpy headed warrior Klingon "greeting" Kirk and Spock and then dragging them to meet their leader who is... some 5'6" dude with a sun-tan and Genghis Khan facial hair. The idea is that because of his/her "deformity" they had to work twice as hard and be be three times smarter to command the respect of those who were immune to the augment virus. It would explain why the smooth headed guys devious and cowardly as opposed to later incarnation. Its because they were Machiavellian wannabe evil geniuses who had something to prove.

Although you must admit, the first bumpy-headed Klingons ever seen in TMP looked rather scary in the lighting of the battlecruiser bridge set and with those fangs!
