On Thursday, September 10, the new lineup features the premiere of The Vampire Diaries, based on the best-selling book series, and the return of Supernatural.

Are you somehow not pumped up for this show's fifth and maybe final season? Then here's the casting call for Lucifer, a new regular character:
30s – 40s, male. This is the devil – he is soft-spoken, strangely sympathetic, more vulnerable than evil and should have piercing eyes. This is an amazing role that will be heavily recurring...HEAVILY RECURRING GUEST STAR.

    Cant wait for season 5.

    They're pussifying Satan? :wtf:

Nah, here's what they should do. Casting call: Satan. Ultimate incarnation of Evil. Deal with it.

And cast Ray Wise. Done and done.

John Glover from Brimstone, or Peter Stormare from Constantine, man as for the description goes Michael Emerson would be perfect!

No, they're not pussifying Satan. Temis, Temis, Temis, if you would just give this show a chance you'd understand what they're going for with this.

Ray Wise? From Reaper? As Lucifer on Supernatural? No, I don't think they're going for comedy with Satan. They need someone with more presence than a Ray Wise. Damn, I wish Adrian Pasdar wasn't still committed to crappy Heroes. He's got that quality they're looking to cast. Michael Emerson wouldn't be bad. If they're even half as successful as they were casting Misha Collins as Castiel, Satan will be wicked.:bolian:

Temis, they haven't exactly been casting God in a good light this season. Most of the angels are assholes who think nothing of giving the world a cleansing enema to get rid of the human waste. Lucifer was cast out by God. I see him as a seductive, stealing your soul kind of presence.

If you watched the show, you wouldn't have to ask that.

Uh, no. This is a fabulous direction and while I adore Ray Wise he's not right for this part at all.

"vulnerable" does seem like an odd word to use for the Devil.

"he is soft-spoken, strangely sympathetic," I can understand

Actually vulnerable works. I think they'll play up the 'fallen angel' angle and given what Sam & Dean(well more-so Dean) have learned about how truly 'good' the angels appear to be and how much they don't seem to give a rat's ass about humanity I think that could play into it.

    Dear Go...I mean Hell yeah:devil:

Although I like were people are going with this in terms of who Lucifer is.

Sounds like they are taking the Benjamin Linus route with Lucifer.

I think that description leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Lucifer could be more Christ-like than anti in his personality, or he could portray the wounded or abandoned child (he kind of has really serious father issues!) and could play an orphan angle against the brothers. I am definitely getting geared up for next season.

They're going more for the charismatic, win-you-over-due-to-the-feelings-God-gave-you take on Satan. Not a hand-wringing, moustache-twirling villain. He'll talk you into doing great evils while making you think it was your idea.

I think I speak for everyone, when I ask, will Sam at any point trade his hands with the devil so he can learn to play the holophoner? and write an opera for his lost love Ruby?

With Satan rising, shouldnt the end of the world happen? Shouldnt the first episode be about wine turn into water, fish all die, earth quakes, demons breaking out of hell etc.

Please dont tell me they are going to have Satan around for 22 episodes and no one on earth even knows about it.

Start Judgement day now, or Satan just be another demon bad guy and nothing special.

I dont disagree, but all of what you just described sounds expensive to do well on TV.

Also similar to Doctor Who the shows works best when the human race are unaware of the demon (or aliens) setting a season after such an event would be tricky.

Bolded for truth. Oh yeah, this guy could play into Sam and Dean's issues so wickedly well. Casting is critical. Dear God, I hope the network isn't pushing for some hairless early 20ish pretty boy a la the Vampire Diaries or Gossip Girl. They struck lightning with Castiel. Can they cast that well again?

maybe a little against-type, but how about John de Lancie for the role?

Q?? I don't think John DeLancie's craziness is what they're looking for. They're not looking for quirky with this part. John DeLancie was always comedy relief. He didn't have a seductive, psychological quality to him.

    casting call

There's a new casting call for episode 5x01--one guest star, Susan, and another recurring character.

    Meg's back. Excellent.

Exactly. I don't want yet another tragic and misguided bad boy who just needs a hug and good woman to love him. I don't want Gary Oldman's Count Dracula. I want Emperor Palpatine. I want Darkseid. I want the guy every religion rants against. I want they guy on the Slayer album covers.
