Thursday (6/18) Box Office - Trek #6 - $0.75 million

No matter how strong the legs, I can't see Star Trek making it anywhere near 250, let alone 300.

But the next one will...

WHat do you mean "I can't see Star Trek making it anywhere near 250"?

It already is near 250!

In fact, by the end of the weekend it will only be pocket change away from $240m and within two weeks it will be nudging up against $245m. That is pretty damned close to 250, where I come from!

I'd say, if ST is still in cinemas in two months time, we will be at $250m.

whatever the outcome on the final numbers, it has more than met expectations and I for one can't wait for the sequel...

Well that's pretty much what I'm saying. It it hits 250 that'll be wondrous. But the next one will hit 300 at least, if the current brain trust stays intact.

Everyone in the USA, go see it again July 4th weekend! Let's set a week 8 comeback record!

RAMA

I think the year will be something like:

1. Transformers 2
2. Up
3. Harry Potter
4. Avatar
5. Star Trek
6. Ice Age 3
7. The Hangover
8. New Moon
9. Chipmunks 2
10. Night at the Museum 2

NatM2 isn't going to beat Monsters vs. Aliens. I think it'll be something like:

1. Transformers 2
2. Avatar
3. Harry Potter
4. Up
5. Star Trek
6. Hangover
7. New Moon
8. Ice Age 3
9. Monsters vs. Aliens
10. Chipmunks 2

Top 8 is fine with me, I'm not greedy.

Father's Day surge followed by July 4th celebration!

DO IT.

My father and I have already each seen the film twice -- once together and then once more separately. We actually are taking a one-day trip across the border on Father's Day, but my mother and sister will be with us, and getting them to go see a Star Trek movie would be a miracle. I doubt my dad would really want to see it again either.

But I'll see what I can do. ;)

Didn't mean to come across so authoritative...

I wish my father would've been here to see this movie with me... but at least I saw it with my son a few times.

Although after 4 viewings he's had enough... :p

Oops, yeah I forgot about MvA :)

It'll come close maybe. It'll reach $240 million by next weekend (its ninth week). It may start its tenth week at over $241 million. Iron Man ran thirteen more weeks after its ninth week, and brought in $9 million and change in that time. Batman Begins ran eleven more weeks after its week nine, and brought in another $4 million. Taking in somewhere between those figures seems most realistic for ST09.

I'm sticking with $247 million total by the time Jeri has finally seen her last showing sometime this September. ;)
