New Indiana Jones Movie in works

SALLAH: "Why, Indiana? All you had to do was pull the trigger."

INDY: "If I had pulled the trigger, Nevada would be dead."

SALLAH: "I asked you to defend your ship."

INDIANA: "You asked me to kill my brother."

^ Marcus Brody: 'Your father was an archeologist for 20 minutes. During that time, he saved 800 lives, including yours. Why don't you see if you can do better?' (or something like that)

Ha...turns out Spalko was actually sent back in time at the end of Indy 4 and now has a bizarre and perplexing grudge against Indy and, uh, Marshall College?

A lot of the Crystal sets looked fake, which sucked the life out of the scenes. Marion was wasted. Mutt was dumb. Beowulf was clearly a villain from the start, so his turn was a waste. Where the hell was Sallah? And what the fuck is up with Indy killing only one badguy in the entire movie? ONE! With a blowdart no less. My Indiana Jones blows guys away with a Webley revolver that goes off like a handcanon. Or a whip kill, that would have been appreciated.

The fridge thing was just too much, as well. The raft in Temple was barely believable because the plane was so low to the ground, flying so slowly, the raft was inflatable and they landed on an incline in snow. Then Indy survives an essentially ground zero blast in a flying refrigerator? Dumb. Did give us the awesome mushroom cloud shot, though. So there's always that.

I second the suggestion of an Antarctic adventure. Inlcude a boat, helicopter, snowcat-type vehicle ... and The Thing - kidding! MacReady would be a cool sidekick, though. Soviets can still be the badguys.

Ya know, for all its highs and lows, this discussion is making me want to watch the movie again. Now where's that DVD...

Let's just be grateful Sallah wasn't in the film because, if what I heard was correct, Lucas was going to make HIM the traitor.

I would have led the torch-wielding mob to the Ranch myself, if that had happened.

Frank Marshall has confirmed to Empire that they are developing the script for a fifth Indy film. He says that Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford all want to do another one. It's just a matter of coming up with a story that everyone agrees on.

^Interesting. Probably a good thing he backed off. Reminds me of how Lt. Valeris in Star Trek VI was originally going to be Lt. Saavik. Or how Detective Ramirez in The Dark Knight was originally going to have another name (after one of the characters from Batman: The Animated Series) but they changed it when they realized that fans of The Animated Series might have been upset that the movie version was secretly working for Maroni.

"Indiana Jones and the Search for God"

Isn't that the traditional volume 5 movie?

"What does God need with a Bullwhip?"
Except that Indy already found the "essence of God" in Raiders. He knows God, or a god, whatever his scientific mind wants to think...exists.

Haha. That quote could come from any article during the last 15 years.
Please tell me, cause you have no smilies, you were making a joke.

Yeah, agreeing on a story was certainly a problem for the fourth film (to say the least). Marshall did also say that they're aware that they have to move quickly because of Ford's age, but then that was an issue in the development of the fourth film, too. Still, it wouldn't surprise me to see a fifth film come together pretty quickly. The kind of money KOTCS made has a way of lighting a fire under asses.

Welcome to 1990, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2001, 2003 and, well, you get the picture.

I heard this quote MANY times over the past twenty years. I wonder if we will be waiting another twenty?

Okay, I admit despite as much as I love Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I would have HATED that.

I'm not a Lucas basher at ALL, but I would love it if he just let Speilberg do whatever the hell he wants with Indy5 just to get it made immediately.

Don't worry. I don't think it is true. According to an early version of the script that I have, Sallah's appearance in Indy 4 would have been as a guest at Indy's wedding.

Personally, I like it when they have a host of new supporting players in each Indy film. When they brought back Sallah and expanded Marcus' role in TLC, it felt very forced.

Spielberg and Lucas should swap: Lucas directs Indy 5 and Spielberg directs Star Wars, Episode VII. Could be interesting.

Lucas offered Spielberg the opportunity to direct Episode III, but Spielberg turned it down, saying it was Lucas's baby. He did consult on some of the action sequences, though.

Thank goodness. That would have brought them into nuTrek territory.
