Cafepress.com question

For a while now I've been looking around on Cafepress.com, a website where people can design and sell their own clothes, and stuff like that. I've found tons of great shirts for things like Trek, Doctor Who, M*A*S*H ect., but I wasn't sure if I would be breaking anykind of copyright laws by buying stuff there, anyone here have any idea?

I guess it depends on exactly what is on the T-Shirt, it the t-shit had say a Dalek, or a TARDIS on it, yes that is breaking copyright, but if it was just one saying "The Angels have the phone box" you would probaly get away with it, besides im sure Cafepress has systems they dont sell anything that breaks copyright.

That's where I got mine from!

I've had a store on CafePress for years, and every time I upload something they remind me not to use Copyrighted materials (well, Copyrighted by others). So you can be pretty sure it's been allowed by the Copyright holder if it's on there; especially since I often get emails from them advertising Copyrighted material.

I think cafepress has a "we won't take it down unless someone complains" policy. I've seen a number of copyrighted logos and designs put up, only to disappear a few weeks later. Hell, I even spotted someone using some of my Trek logos. I thought about complaining but since most of them are ripoffs of Mike Okuda's work, I don't exactly have the moral high ground...though I have toyed with the idea of using it to make my own stuff, just for me. The idea of a Psi Corps mug is oddly appealing...

Wow, I completely forgot I even started this thread.
Ok, so they do pay attention to that stuff then. Thanks for the info.

I do wonder if that reminder is a way for them to say: Well, we told them not to do it...sue them...

The only shirt I've ever ordered from them was very poorly screened. I thought about sending it back, but that seemed like a lot of trouble just for a t-shirt. I've been reluctant to give them another try.

^^ I've gotten a ton of products from them and it's all been great, from clothing to cards to mugs to books to posters. And the new mini video cameras are very cool.

Probably. I'm sure they can't monitor every single thing that's uploaded.
