First aired Sunday June 14th, 9 pm Eastern

From zap2it listings - "A murder outside Merlotte's bar has the people of Bon Temps reeling."

From tv.com - "Dallas vampires employ Sookie Stackhouse to use her telepathy to help find their lost companion. Sookie's relationship with Bill is tested when she learns the truth about his involvement in uncle's death. Jason spends money on a retreat to The Fellowship of the Sun."

That's right, our favorite HBO show has returned! What is your rating?

I should A it for Anna Paquin's nudity, but...while good, nothing really stood out.

New murder mystery. Or two ongoing if you count the Fellowship founder preacher. Maybe the voodoo lady tried to drown Maryanne when she was in possum form? Ha!

Sookie shoulda kept some of that money. Take the old bastard's dough and donate it to sex-abused kids charity at least.

Bill's accent seemed off in his first scenes, like maybe the actor had a long break between filmings and had to reacquire it.

Will Lafayette make it out alive? Or undead? TUNE IN NEXT WEEK! SAME BAT TIME, SAME BAT CHANNEL!

Ok, I loved it. I remember something Alan Ball said in an interview last year about a certain character and am really happy he has done what he said he was thinking about doing. (how's that for non-spoilers?)

Also, seeing Pan on screen was pretty awesome, since I'd just read Dark Hollow, which is all about Pan.

And finally, the return of Nan ... Let me put it this way ... I loathed this actress when she was on Judging Amy. The first time I saw her on True Blood, I was ready to instantly hate this character. Except, she's pretty awesome. And she's even better this season, just a tad ... dangerous, too.

Knowing the plot of Living Dead in Dallas (which this season will be at least somewhat based on), I can't wait to see how Jason is going to play into things this season.

Aah, so so, setup episode, y'know.

Does William Sanderson ever age? He probably does like if I threw in Blade Runner or something but he always looks the same to me in his appearances.

And Anna Paquin takes another one for the team. I mean, Michelle Forbes doesn't even give us a bare shoulder so I thank her.

Though a little slow, I still enjoyed it. HBO shows are notorious for there slow starts, so I'm sure (hopeful) it picks up speed.

I was also surprised to see who was in Andy Bellefleur's car. My girlfriend has read all the books, and we were both taken aback. Should be interesting to see how this season plays out.

Could Voodoo be real? If Voodoo is real, then most magic is real, and maybe even probably gods walking the earth are real too... Michelle baring some flesh would have been very organic for the scenes she was in.

Remember the wire?

How season one was small, and then the story just got larger and larger each season incorporating more contingents of Baltimore's infrastructure, ever expanding outward until in seaon 10 the story would have been taking into account shit happening off world and telling us why they're anal probing rednecks all the time? Though if they had had a season 6, we were going to see one end of the story tip into washington, and the seaosn after that they would have been in the White House.

There wa a trueblood prequel comic last year before the show took off.

It showed us the larger picture.

Politics.

Presidents and generals.

Smashing these worlds together makes for true entertainment.

I loved it! I barely recognized Lafayette with hair! Glad he's...well alive for now

Eric was a hilarous killer with highlight foils!

And who knew vamps recycle? :guffaw:

Yes, Sookie/Bill scenes were totally hot! I like that they fixed Bill's hair from that horrible Hugh Grant floppy style.

Some best lines:

Jessica: Eric let me feed of a man with tattoos and nipple piercings!
Bill: I'm not Eric
Jessica: You are SO NOT ERIC!

Bill: Whilst you are in my house you will not dress like a slattern
Jessica: A what?
Bill: A lady of the evening
Jessica: Awesome!

:D

It was pretty good, but not great.

Last season, the episodes got better & better, so I'm sure this season will work out the same way.

I haven't read the books, so anything that happens will be a surprise.

Without getting into too much spoilery territory for later seasons/books, the answer is that yes ... magic's real in Sookie's world. And I'll leave it at that.

I liked it, just discovered the show last week but thanks to iTunes I am catching up.

It does make the same Louisiana mistakes that all non natives make.

C'est la vie.

Do you have a Target *and* a Best Buy in your area? If so, here's a great deal (I think, anyway) ... Best Buy has season 1 on sale for $40, and it comes with a five dollar Best Buy gift card. Target has the same thing on sale for only $25.

Take the Target ad into Best Buy. They'll price match it, giving it to you for 25 bucks. The five dollar free gift card comes up in their computers automatically ... so basically you can get the whole thing (with all the extras) for 20 bucks.

That works for me. I'll have to go find the ads in my Sunday paper.

It wasn't a great episode, but it was a set up episode for the future.

True Blood is a lot like Lost in the way it sets up questions that we all want answered.

And I know Sookie is the main character, but why do I get the feeling Jessica is going to feed on her.

Anything is possible. There is no Jessica in the books. Heck, about half the characters on the show aren't in the books, or are substantially changed from the books, so there are surprises. And that could be one of them.

Sophie showing up in this season ... that's new. And no Bubba.

Oh, and a tease for the season finale, I've just heard about ... Charlaine Harris herself is going to be doing a guest spot in the last episode of the season.

I've never read any of the books or anything so I really have no idea what's going on. That said, is Maryanne some kind of wife or servant of Pan or Bacchus? Or a witch who worships him? She looked an awful lot like the woman being ravaged in the mural.
