whilst the world still has problems, society is a lot better for women in the western world these days, if anything she should look at how young women binge drink, and general ladette culture, and realise that despite the improvements for women in mans world, woman has lost her way, and they fear that happening to them if they stayed, so went back to the island, again hiding from anything that forces them to look at there world view.

I think it would be a very powerful statement, if they were driven back to Themyscira, not by the actions of man kind, but by woman kind.

Yeah, the attempt at ret-conning the idea that Lionel was in league with Swan, the Teagues and the Queens was ill-conceived. I partly blame the writers' strike for the way in which it was executed, but the bottom line is that if you watch the eps from Seasons 2, 3 and 4, it was clear that there wasn't an earlier association between these characters.

Well, in fairness, there were links. For example, Lionel knew the Teagues. But the way they presented it in season seven really went against what was established already.

It could have been a cool idea to tie in all the past stuff, but they way it went about was very "Huh?"

I don't know how much the strike played into that, other than giving more exposition on Veritas, considering the connection to all these families were revealed in one episode, written as a season ender (before they learned they would get five more episodes) leads me to believe that they had enough time to get this written/planned out enough in advance. Also, considering they had five more episodes afterwards, they could have developed it more to make it work, but instead we got classic episodes like "Sleeper" (though, I admit, much of those five episodes dealt with Vertias stuff).

The Themiscyria address was indeed in Season Three...I remember geekiing out on that, Gotham has been shown on screen in the Daily Planet. As for having Lex return, that was is easy (if the producers can make some kind of agreement with Michael) in the 90's the original silverage Lex died because of prolonged exposure to Kryptonite poisoning from having that ring on his finger so long. Then all of a sudden the modern day Luthor emerged and was revealed as being a younger clone of the original Luthor (although I think this has been since Retconned out) so they could bring Lex back as a clone if he's really dead. There is also the theory some have proposed that Lex somehow transported his conscieness into Ollie before the explosion.

Gotham City also appeared in the episode where someone was killing off old classmates of Ollie and Lex.

For the Lex clone...it was the modern Lex they "killed" only to reinvent him as a young clone (who claimed to be Lex's illegitimate Australian son). As the comics went on, there was a story arc (still yet to be traded) where all the clones were beginning to die due to a mysterious disease. Lex was affected by this as well, and he set off a doomsday device to destroy Metropolis. Eventually, all was revealed and the clone died. In truth, Lex made a deal with a demon (whose name escapes me) in order to come back to life in his original body. Back as "bald" Lex, he was able to convince the courts that he was, in reality, imprisoned the entire time and the clone was the one who did all the evil, bad stuff. So, it wasn't so much of a retcon, but rather they had the storyline play out and then were able to revert to the status quo while keeping the previous continuity in tact.

Neron, in the Underworld Unleashed crossover.

After the dust settled, some flunky pats Lex on the back, "Wow, you sold your soul to get yourself a new healthy body... UM? Why didn't you ask for superpowers too?"

    Lex facepalms.

Actually I am afraid we haven't seen Gotham in the show, but we have had it mentioned.

In Reunion Oliver's friend (Jeffrey I believe was his name or something like that - there is an alternate spelling of Geoffrey) says he has to get back to Gotham. The limo explodes before he gets to the airport.

Linda Lake claimed she could see Gotham from her office window in Hydro.

I stand corrected Broc, you're absolutely right about that. But as far as the connection between Lionel and Swann; in the ep where Lionel travels to New York, it came across as though the two men were meeting for the first time.

And in Season 4, when Lex met Jason, there was no indication of 'Gee, remember when we were kids and our folks got together and we played with Patricia Swan and Little Ollie?' These were the instances I was thinking of, which pretty much proves the ret-con, though a cool idea, just didn't fit with established continuity.

I imagine that much like harry Osborn, that Jason Teagues was a victim of Psychological conditioning, manipulation, hypnosis and drugs until he became exactly the child with exactly the childhood Mr and Mrs Teagues insisted on to asituate the climax of their ongoing agenda. Yup. They did that to their kid on purpose to get Clark and his stones.

Though, an under achieving statutory rapist (How old was Lana? I think she was old enough, because they were more worried about him losing his job, than going to jail.)?

What the hell became of his education, old boys network and trustfund?

His mother is worth trillions and he's making do eventually as a leg breaker for lex?

I think he got retconned already half way through his first season.

Actually it was revealed in a later episode that Lana never had sex with Jason Teague.

Sounds like the writers were trying to insert the milk from yesterdays wheeties back into the living udder it came from.

    How frakking Orwell.

What about the [Hurley]French chick[/Hurley] that was wandering in and out of control of her body? Not only might Lana not know that her body was releasing that apes needs, but she could have been impregnated and the pregnancy only shows when the witch is in control...

I just finished downloading Smallville the other day. I must watch it all again.

You are probably right. I was going off memory from the first and only time I saw the episode back when it first aired. However, I got the impression that Swan knew that Luthor was a bad guy; didn't Swan refer to Lionel as a "Diseased Maniac"? But he could just be going off of what he learned on his own.

Oh yeah. That was a big "what the fuck?!"

Lana was a senior in high school and, I think, they established Jason as being a college freshman. So, while technically, if they had sex, Jason could be considered a statutory rapist, they were only a year apart.

Much better than the age difference between her and Whitney.

Then again, as mentioned by Procutus, they seemed to retcon Jason being closer to Lex's age. NX will probably know better about this.

What is with the guys in this show ? Lana was old enough, it's just that Jason was a football coach at the school.

The only guy who ever seemed to get any was Jimmy - and only because they did it before he was actually on the show.

Well, it was implied that Chloe and Jimmy shacked up after they reunited. Remember the whip cream?

Also, Ollie and Lex got some a couple of times.

^The guys on this show aren't exactly a bunch of sexual predators, though.

This is, of course, not surprising. Sexually aggressive men might put off the network's core audience. The CW prefers men to be tied up and shirtless.
