Yes, they don't mean much to, well, pretty much anyone, but at least they usually have better picks than for the more prestigious awards - and we can all vote for the winners. :)

The short list will be announcd on Monday, but they've already released the long list: http://www.airlockalpha.com/community/index.php?topic=13848.0 Star Trek has several potential nominees, and no doubt it has a great chance to get a few actual nominations. It also got a few first place votes in the nomination process: Best movie, Zachary Quinto for Best Movie Actor, Zoe Saldana for Bst Movie Actress, and Anton Yelchin for Best Young Actor. Also on the list: Chris Pine, Karl Urban and Leonard Nimoy for Best Movie Actor, Jacob Kogan and Jimmy Bennett for Best Young Actor Still, it's not really certain how many actual nominations it will get (well, the Best Movie one is pretty much assured).

And the list of nominees has been released, and unsurpsingly, Star Trek leads the way as far as movies go, with 5 nominations in 4 categories. :) :techman:

I was on the nominating committee for this (I used to write for the site). I would have loved to see Anton Yelchin make the list for Best Young Actor/Performer rather than Thomas Dekker. Yelchin was 18 in the movie (and is 20 now), and Dekker is 22.

The hard part, though, is choosing between Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine in a category that also includes Heath Ledger.

Yeah, I wouldn't count on Quinto or Pine winning that category.

Yeah, I wouldn't count on Quinto or Pine winning that category.

Right, it'll be a posthumous Heath award, deserved or not. (And he was fantastic, but...)

It may sound wrong, but I'm more inclined to choose either Pine or Quinto, because the odds of them being honored for any major award are 313,417,234.67 to 1.

22?! And I was wondering how long is Hayden going to be eligible for the Young Actor award, she has been nominated for 3 years in a row already, and is turning 20... but Dekker is already 22, and getting nominated in the same categories as children?! That is ridiculous. :cardie: What is the age cutoff for that award, anyway?

Yea no one is going to beat the Joker. They won't dare give it to someone still alive over him.

I'm not sure. It never occurred to me to ask until I saw the final nominations. I am awaiting an answer on this. Actually, Dekker is not yet 22, but he will be in December.

Wait H.G. Wells is up for the Gene Roddenberry Life Time Achievement Award? Cool.
I think that GateWorld has the best website down though.

Olmos, McDonnell, Emerson, Sackhoff, The Oath (nothing from Lost?!?), Hatch (Tudyk's role was too poorly written), Kogan, Quinto, Gyllenhaal, no opinion, no opinion, Star Trek, Lost, and HG frakkin Wells.
