Getting Ready To Make The Jump From PC's to Mac's

If you're getting an iPhone, pay for MobileMe. ($100 a year.)

Great post apart from that part. $100 is way too expensive

Would it help if I called it $8.30 a month?

I suppose if someone uses google apps online, it's not as critical for them. But speaking as someone who doesn't, I find it to be an essential service. (Although google apps won't replace apple keychains...being able to log into any of my computers and having that computer know all my online login passwords from the other computers is like chocolate ice cream on a hot day.)

Also, perhaps someone with just 2 devices might be able to get by without it. I have 6 devices (soon it will be 7) that sync to my service. The thought of having all 7 out of sync with each other makes me a little bit ill.

So long story short, yes OP, you should THINK about it but decide for yourself. Don't just buy it because I said so. It's not really for everyone. I'm just saying that I happen to be one of the people for whom it's useful.

Not really. I'd consider at most $10 for a year, but no more. Over the air push email/calendar is pretty essential for business users but for me, I sync to my mac daily (which updates my subscribed calendars) and can just load the mail app on my iPhone if I need to check that.

I don't see the value proposition in $100 for the rest of MobileMe.
