Quantum Mechanix Model of the USS Enterprise (new movie)

WOW! Very nice! A far cry from the pathetic Playmates version. The aztecing is very well done, but I'm concerned about those decals. Something just strikes me as off about them. They look a little too super-glossy and I fear they may go the route of the old Unobtainium TOS-E decals that quickly yellowed and peeled - like they were never laquer-protected, dullcoated or anything. You might want to put that baby right back in the box so that it is well preserved until you ultimately decide what to do with it.

Wow. As much as I despise that design and everything it represents, that is one nice model.

Like I said over on hobbytalk, before I got slapped with another six day suspension (:D), anybody offering less than a thousand bucks should be met with several undisguised obscenities, but a straight swap with a MR TOS E would be a fair trade.

Thanks for the advice. I noticed the decals too (specifically the USS Enterprise one on the saucer). The ship came out of the box only to take photos of it, and she's been back in there ever since.

Captain April, you take suspensions quite well!

audio: As someone mentioned up-thread document, document, document. Your ship is one of only a handful in existence right now. Add to the fact it's probably the only one completed by the "maker" to represent the on screen version. All the others were done "artistically" as part of the promotion. Seriously, you've really got a "one of a kind" right now. I'd personally go the museum approach to share it with others, but that's my two cents. With the proper documentation to back it up, I'd think your windfall is worth far more than $1000 to some collector. Test the waters, but be prepared to back it up with paper. That paper trail is probably worth more than the model itself.

Congratulations ... I'd be more than happy to display it in my home if you wish.... ;)

What's the closest air-&-space museum to St. Louis?
I think we'd be talking about Wright Patterson, in Ohio.

Basically, go across the southern tip of Illinois, and across Indiana, and you're there. Probably five or six hours drive-time. I grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana... just about half-way between the two places.

There are plenty of places in the greater Chicago area where that sort of thing would be applicable as well...

The thing is, this model really isn't "iconic." It's a NEW SHIP DESIGN, not one that's been around forever. Someday... decades from now... IF this redesign "sticks"... this might be able to be referred to as "iconic" and in that case, it'd be suitable for an "Air and Space Museum."

Right now, it's really better suited for a "Planet Hollywood" display item, I think. That is, it's an example of current "pop culture" but not "hollywood history" per-se.

Maybe a display at Best Buy?

Oh, pish. That's the minor leagues. The real winners go here:

What a piece of crap. You don't want to be associated with that ugly worthless thing.

I'd be willing to dispose of it for you, and I'd be willing to waive my usual fee.

Give me a call and I'll give you my address where to ship it.

In that case, the shipping costs I'd have to assess to you just skyrocketed. ;)
