Scotty's remarks about Sulu

Gorn Captain

Commander
Red Shirt
What was with the remarks Scotty made when Kirk et al were on the way to the transporter to board the Narada? Something along the lines of "unbelievably, captain, the ship is exactly where it is supposed to be". also, scotty expressed surprise when sulu told him they were in position.

Why? Scotty wasn't on board when Sulu had his parking brake problem. Unless we're incorporating story elements from Vonda McIntyre's novel 'Enterprise' I don't see what Scotty's problem is. Maybe it's a bit of a non sequitur that resulted from dialogue that was edited out?

I highly doubt it was meant towards Sulu. It was meant to reference the fact that, thus far, just about everything had gone really, really badly.

It's not so much a great line as a great delivery, I love the way Urban just unloaded the line "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?!?" on Spocky.

Okay, disregard that last post of mine, apparently I cannot operate a computer. That was meant for the one liner thread.

I think Scotty's line was just a generalized expression of surprise at how easily Sulu managed to pull off what was seen to be an incredibly difficult maneuver.

I took it has Scotty giving him a compliment.

Gorn Captain, you're reading way too much into it, with a total lack of common sense.

I thought it was a wee slight against Chekov, not Sulu, because wasn't it the kid's idea to put them where they went?

Exactly. He was merely complimenting Sulu.

no reason to be so snippy. I kinda thought he was being a bit sarcastic as well. but I realized he was really surprised and was actually complementing Sulu.

Excuse me, but I didn't come here to be told that I lack common sense. I asked a perfectly legitimate question about how one might interpret a particular scene. But thanks for being snotty about it.

Actually, I agree, I wasn't 100% sure how to take the line either (is he commenting on the general difficulty of the maneuver? Chekov? Sulu? The bad day in general?) and that one response to Gorn was kind of rude.

Come on now everybody...let's hold hands and sing a round of Kumbaya(sp)...I just hate the fighting (when I'm not involoved LOL LOL) it makes me feel scared and frightened....hold me.

That is exactly the way I took it too.

Thirded, it was a difficult manouevre, dreamt up by the whizz kid Chekov. I took Scotty's remark as compliment of course.

If I were human, I believe my response would be...go to hell.

If I were human.

My suggestion would be, grow some thicker skin, and don't get so uptight and easily offended over a harmless comment on a message board. It's called banter.

Good usage of the quote!

Unfortunately, I agree with Kpnuts that you're in need of thicker skin, though. And I really don't like having to be in agreement with Kpnuts. ;)

Kumbaya, my Lord. Kumbaya. Kumbaya, my Lord. Kumbaya.

:D
