My Proposal For A Tv Program

I read somewhere that 10% of Americans falsely identify Obama as being Muslim so it got me to thinking how this might be solved.

I propose that the government (of our countries) produce a show/program that is to be broadcast on a weekly basis on ALL channels at the exact same time that basically has someone stating facts that so many people clearly do not have.

So basically the guy would stand there and states the statistics of how many people believe something falsely and then go on to explain that minority is wrong. So the presenter would say "10% of Americans believe Obama to be Muslim" and then the presenter would go on the say "that is incorrect Obama is in fact Christian" or whatever he is.

It doesn't have to be only political based i'm simply using this as an example since I just read about this particular statistic, it can be about other facts that so many people do not understand the true answers to.

Would you agree that we need a program like this??

How... Orwellian. :wtf:

No. There already is a method of disseminating propaganda in this country. It's called the 'News Media.' It doesn't matter if it's Fox, CNN, HLN, MSNBC, or The Alphabet Soup networks. They're all full of bull. The only real difference is that Fox is more Republican-friendly than the others.

Also, I don't care about Obama's race, religion or creed, just so long as he's an American and nothing else.

Unfortunately, once people of a certain mindset get an idea in to their heads, telling them that their idea is incorrect is counterproductive. You only end up reinforcing the idea.

Certain people will believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim (despite the not so subtle prejudice that thinking that and assuming he's some sort of terrorist brings), that the moon landings were faked, that 9/11 was an inside job and so on and it doesn't matter how much evidence you have to prove them wrong, just trying to do so will reinforce their belief. You're just part of the "cover up".

Sounds like Ripley's Believe It or Not. :)

Never heard of it.
It also reminds me of an old '90s Childrens BBC programme, called FOT. (It tended to be shown a lot on Sunday mornings.)

I think I have this show on the "Watching Paint Dry & Grass Grow Channel."

Correcting misinterpretations should be the job of the news, and why be forced to watch someone recite boring facts for an hour when you can just go online and look up the same information, all nice and categorized?

Who said it would be on for an hour? it would be on for about 10 mins.

For the sake of 10 mins a week the population could be educated on the facts instead of being ignorant of certain things.

Being ignorant of certain things is what makes the American Public the American Public. ;)

You can take your quasi-reeducation indoctrination programs and shove them down your pie-hole.

It's stupid that a significant percentage of Americans believe Obama is an evil Muslim, yes, but government-mandated educational programs to teach the people the "truth" is far, far more sinister and could also be very, very easily abused.

For once Locutus, we are in total agreement.

You've never read 1984 have you? That sounds way too much like the 'Two Minutes Hate' for comfort. This is a terrible idea, Tachyon.

All hail the Ministry of Truth! Or the Truth Czar. Whichever you prefer. ;)
