Slings & Arrows...will it be printed?

Does anyone know if Pocket Books plans on collecting and publishing the Slings & Arrows TNG ebook mini-series? They already collected the TOS series, Mere Anarchy, so I figured that they would also like to publish this one...

^So far, the e-books have been getting TPB collections pretty much in publication order. I think there are still a few Corps of Engineers volumes to get through before Slings & Arrows gets its turn.

Mere Anarchy was already reprinted, and I was under the impression that it was released as an ebook series after the SCE books, but before Slings & Arrows. I may be wrong though...or this could just be a case of "...pretty much in publication order..."

No, the first three volumes of Mere Anarchy were released in a hiatus between the last SCE eBook and the first CoE eBook. The rest of Mere Anarchy was released in a hiatus between the third and fourth CoE installments. Slings and Arrows came out after the final CoE installment.

So yeah, it's not quite chronological order; the Mere Anarchy TPB was released about two volumes ahead relative to CoE collections. I guess what I should've said instead is that those two CoE volumes (completing the compilation of those eBooks that were originally published under the SCE heading) are already planned as the next two releases (though only the first has been scheduled yet). So while it's expected that Slings and Arrows will be published in TPB eventually, it'll be a while before it shows up. KRAD would know more.

That's why I was waiting to buy it as a TPB myself but since it wasn't mentioned, i thought I would buy the ebook verison's til the TPB is printed or said to be released.

Ah...I see. Makes more sense now :techman:. Hopefully KRAD can give us some insight.

At this point, with Out of the Cocoon not scheduled until the end of 2010, I'd be surprised if they didn't hold off on a Slings and Arrows compilation until 2012, and promote it as part of TNG's 25th anniversary.

The intent was to publish in approximate publication order, as Christopher indicated, but Mere Anarchy was bumped up to take advantage of the synergy with JJTrek.

Out of the Cocoon was bumped to late 2010 after Marco's layoff to alleviate Margaret's suddenly-much-busier schedule, so that changed the original plans. So the soonest we'd see Slings and Arrows is 2011.

Thanks for the info guys :). Holding publication until the 25th anniversary would be a pretty good idea. Hopefully we see it by 2012 if not 2011.

I still can't wrap my head around the idea that we're talking about dates like 2010 as the short-term future in real life rather than something from a science fiction story.

"ALL THESE WORLDS
ARE YOURS EXCEPT
EUROPA
ATTEMPT NO
LANDING THERE
USE THEM TOGETHER
USE THEM IN PEACE"

...I was led to believe that by 2010, Dolphins would be house pets. Where the fuck are my Dolphins Roy:shifty:?

Stranger still that we can talk about the years 2000 and 2001 as "way back when..."

I know, 2001 was one thing, that was when we entered The Future. But 2010 was The Future to the people who lived in The Future! The Future of The Future!

The dolphins in 2010 weren't pets, they were fellow intelligent beings who came to visit the house in a pool made especially to facilitate communication between species. Dolphins are people.

It is amazing how we are talking about years like this and everything imagined in the '60s near actually came true. Meaning the futuristic looking cities and hovercars and so on.

The DS9/TNG crossovers is what appeals to me about Slings and Arrows, especially the Sisko/Picard story.
