Have you or do you know someone who has named their child after a sci fi/fantasy character? What is the name and why did you pick that name?

I have 2 beautiful daughters named Jadzia and Arwen. I am a big fan of Star Trek and LOTR as well, but I was also looking for a not-so-common name for my daughters. I loved the characters and thought the names were beautiful. So lets see if I'm the only crazy person in the galaxy to do this......

I named my cat Starbuck. No people, though.

I did decide a few years ago that if I ever have a son, I would like to name him "Scaper," after Farscape.

I called my car Spike. He's black - like Spike's leather duster, and evil - because of his fuel consumption.

Not yet, but I'm working on it.

My strategy is to suggest SciFi related names without letting on about why I like them.

My own name (first/last) is shared with an actor who portrays a well-known genre character.

Not a character, but in elementary school I had a classmate (probably born c. 1968) named Nichelle Nicholes or Nicholls or something. I would imagine there was an upswing in African-American girls named Nichelle in the late '60s, but she had the advantage of a nearly identical last name.

My dear departed cat Natasha was named by her original owners after Natasha Fatale from Rocky & Bullwinkle, but I kept the name because of Tasha Yar from TNG.

Back when Robotech was on the air, I thought that "Miriya" was a lovely name, so much that I'd consider naming a daughter that if I ever had one.

My ex-roommate named her cat Callie, after the character from Battlestar Galactica.

She said it was because the cat was whiny, needy and suffered from mood swings.
