The New Ship(s)

roguephoenix

Captain
Captain
so did we end up seeing two different versions of the enterprise in the movie? i saw it twice but i didn't notice and was not willing to wait for dvd release to find out. >_< was the enterprise at the end of the movie, with spock's voiceover, a revamped enterprise? the reason i ask is because i've seen two different versions of the enterprise as a toy on those images floating around. so i'm not sure if the other enterprise look is what we see at the end of the movie (which i think it is because the nacels seemed different) or was that toy just an earlier concept that was later changed?

>_<

this is the other different looking enterprise i'm talking about: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3263/3216774315_2969ffb2c5_o.jpg

That second one definitely looks like a Playmates prototype. It even has the same stand.

beacuse 'pimp my ride' got a hold of the ship. OR after Kirk took comand he wanted to put drag fins on to make his ride cool, but settles for the pimped out nacelles instead.

A while back there was a rumor that there were supposed to be two different Enterprises from two different timelines; one was supposed to be some uber-battleship. However, it was just that: a rumor. It never happened.

Same Enterprise.

so how come there are two different looking enterprise toys?

Use common sense.

Of course they didn't suddenly change the ship completely for the final shot. What the **** would be the point?

And if they did, wouldn't they make it clear to us that there was a change?

Maybe they got so drunk at the after-award party that they all got on the wrong ship?....

Same ship, guy....

Same Enterprise.

sigh... take your own advice before making it? the enterprise was damaged, plus the fact that they now have access to new tech did it not occur to you that they might have upgraded the enterprise the slightest? time did pass before the final scene you know. use common sense sheesh. get that stick out of your @$$ once in a while and maybe you won't be so bitchy.

It's just basic common sense. Regardless of how much time passed or whatever...

They weren't about to redo the ship just for a 15 second shot at the end. It would confuse viewers, waste money and resources, and just basically be completely pointless and nonsensical.

umm... think a little bit before you type lol. you really need it. it makes sense that they would want the ship to change a little bit for the next movie and giving a glimpse of what the new ship at the end of the movie is a good way to do it especially if they know where they want to go with it already. having seen the prototype it made me think that it might have been the case hence i was asking.

as a general rule, if you're going to be an ass, make sure that your argument is iron clad and not the way you have it lol. and fyi, you are able to answer questions without being an ass... or can't you? lol some people... sigh... no wonder the mod here felt the same way about your posts. now it makes sense!

Don't you think it makes more sense to wait until the new movie, before redesigning it? Why would they tie their hands behind their back 2 years early? Surely it makes more sense that IF they're planning on changing the ship for the next movie... they do it in the pre-production stage of the sequel??

The Enterprise E changed slightly for Nemesis, but funnily enough they didn't change it at the end of Insurrection. because they wanted to work out what to tweak in the intervening years! If there had been a drydock scene at the end of INS, they wouldn't be stupid enough to show us a modified Enterprise because Nemesis was years away from production. So no, showing a glimpse at the end of this movie about the new design direction makes ZERO sense.

Oh, and grow some thicker skin FFS, don't be so easily offended. You ask a stupid question, you get a bitchy reply. Deal with it.

lol sorry if it's your time of the month. anyway, i wasn't making an argument that it made sense, hence the question? questions as in people want to know an answer to? cause maybe things didn't make much sense? did it not occur to you that i had already thought "why would they change the ship at the end of the movie?" if it didn't then maybe you need to think a bit more and have a bit more common sense, for lack of better words. don't hoist yourself with your own petard. think! a question usually stems from something unclear. something that's unclear could stem from conflicting ideas. if i brought up one side, hence the other side would be the conflicting idea. so the fact that you brought up my other conflicting idea thinking it was such an original response, just means it didn't occur to you. a little bit of thought would have.

seems you have a habbit of getting things started to the point that moderators end up closing threads lol. i wondered why a number of your posts ended up like that. alas, now i know, first hand. lol you are so easily offended. as you put it, "grow some thicker skin ffs." answer a simple question in a stupid way, you have to expect some similar responses. only makes sense. if it doesn't to you then that makes sense too lol.

What about the frankestein fleet in this movie??? i want some images!!!
Well, there's concept art of its grave. But somehow I don't think that'll give you any idea of what the ships in the movie looked like beforehand. ;)

lol though i'm sure someone out there has actual images of those ships. and eventually schematics. they always surface eventually. i even saw an early draft of the enterprise d.
