Should Phase II move on?

"Worlds Enough And Time" is, I think, the current high-water mark for the Phase II folks as an overall production - there is not a glaring weakness in any aspect of it, IMAO.

Yes, even though it's 'just' a talkie. But it's a damn good talkie. Everyone who doesn't get at least a bit emotional at the end is probably dead inside...

Most of TOS is "just a talkie." The fan films that concentrate more on getting the talkie right and less on blowing up planets usually work out better for several reasons, IMAO.

Not sure where that leaves us - somewhere in the middle, maybe...

I guess I like In Harm's Way the best is because near the end right at the last minute the Enterprise from the future comes to the rescue...I loved it..

I have to agree. Though the episodes that followed were produced better from an aesthetic sense, nothing quite tops the "fanboy moment" of the rolling Trek theme and the entrance of the "Ultimate Constitution-Class Enterprise". Any Ship 'shipper who didn't get a thrill out of that scene needs to have their pulse checked.

That scene was the closest thing to "Starship Fanservice" that we're ever likely to see. :)

'Just a talkie'? Personally I prefer a good story over a bunch of loosely connected FX sequences. That´s already why I never got into most of post-TNG Trek.
Heck, one of the best examples of movie storytelling is the 1957 adaption of "Twelve Angry Men" and that one plays almost exclusively in a single small room.

Even if I ever wanted to watch Blood and Fire (and I never will) I couldn't because my internet is not fast enough for streaming video. That is why I never could watch Of Gods and Men, I wanted to really bad but you cannot even download it..if you want a dvd of it you have to purchase something from their store which is rediculous, limiting it's viewership..they should do what Phase II is continually doing and allowing for downloads, that way they can all be shared and get more people to watch. IMHO of course which doesn't mean much in the scheme of things.

I don't watch the show, but I agree that the folks behind Phase II should just keep doing what they're doing until either 1) people stop watching, or 2) they decide it's time to stop.

Wait, did you see In Harm's Way? ;)

But also factored into that equation is the question of how long people were willing to wait following "World Enough and Time"'s release in August of 2007.

Wow, it's been nearly 2 years already? Heh, that's the great thing about getting older and having things to do during the day: time goes by really fast!

Take your time.

Yeah, and I like "Worlds Enough And Time" a lot better.

Just a minor point: the episode is "World [singular, not plural] Enough and Time." English majors will no doubt notice that the episode's title is drawn from a famous poem To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell.

[ Also, for Phase II we read about all these other episodes going before the camera (like "The Child" & "Kitumba") and not a peep about the conclusion to "Blood & Fire."

While I am interested in New Voyages/Phase II this is the reason I have not really followed it too closely. New episode ideas being announced long before they are even ready to shot. With some seemingly being abandoned. All before in-production episodes are fully released.

It VERY confusing and frustrating. Its bad marketing. Directors and Actors try to avoid sequel talk before the current film is finished and in release for a while. Even in planned film series because they know it will distract from the current project.

Yep..a few years ago they said they would do a viginette every month until an episode was released..they did just one and no explanation or anything on why not the rest..it was quietly swept under the rug.

While I'm sure the folks making independent productions don't do so to irritate the fans, I have to say that it must take an incredible amount of time and money to make each episode. And these folks are trying to squeeze it into a life full of auto repair and electric bills.

I've had many hours of fun and excitement watching all these productions, and I hope they all benefit from the new interest in Star Trek generated from the big blockbuster in the theaters.

And when I say "In Harm's Way" is my favorite, that doesn't take anything away from "World Enough and Time" and "To Serve All My Days" and others. If people are having trouble downloading episodes, become a friend with a teenager in the neighborhood who'll download the file and set it up in Hi-Def and upgrade your computer to boot.:bolian:

Sometimes, life gets in the way of Star Trek. Sad but true.:klingon:

PHASE II (ALL MY DAYS) SPOILER ALERT !!

Phase II can definitely not do the movie era. Kirk's first line (as Chekov accompanies him to the bridge) --

"Aren't you dead?
