Henry Jenkins (MIT Media Studies) Five Topics on the New Star Trek

Interesting, but not a great deal which hasn't already been discussed here at some length. The bit at the very end suggests he might have more to say on the subject, however:

Then, again, there's nothing wrong with this film that couldn't have been improved by the addition of Klingons. I will explain later in the week.
Could be worth keeping an eye on it.

I'll have to read this over the weekend...but I like the title of the article! If I want to mention Trek in a convo...I can always find a way...what...you want an example..OK then since you're insisting...

The other day I was with my friend looking at flowers for her wedding and she saw some vibrant gerber daisies which are electric in color, and I said those hue's remind me of the set lights on Star Trek...she just looked at me and I gave a big grin (she likes Trek)...but see I can inject Trek into just about any convo -- yeah it's a gift I have.

M'Sharak, in his next blog entry, the author speaks about being a Klingon in the movie, which wound up on the cutting room floor. That's all.

Fo'sho.

I considered taking each point and quoting it into the appropriate threads on already underway about each of Jenkins' points. But I felt it far more effective to post a link to the essay for others to consume.
