Chris Pine looks "Unstoppable" (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Chris Pine has found the follow-up role to his star-making turn in "Star Trek." The actor is in negotiations to star opposite Denzel Washington in the action drama "Unstoppable."

The story centers on an experienced train engineer (Washington) who's about to be laid off as part of company cutbacks. Pine would play the newbie conductor hired to replace him. They find themselves in a race against time to stop an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train carrying enough combustible liquids and poisonous gas to wipe out a nearby city.

I read about this today. It's great to see him so in demand. The storyline doesn't sound very original, but the director wants to shoot it documentary style, so that is interesting. I'm excited about Chris working with Denzel Washington. It should be a great experience for him!

I would love to see that play, too.

I have a feeling that Chris is taking the role due more to the fact that Denzel Washington and Scott is directing. I, too, don't think it sounds very interesting, and I'm surprised that Denzel is taking it since he has Pelham 123 coming out. On the other hand, Ridley gave us Gladiator, and I like Denzel. So, I'll go see it.

That and the fact that I'll watch Pine in anything. I recently saw Bottleshock, and he was so different in that role. I hear he is also appearing in an Indie film later this year, so he's not going for the pure blockbuster movies. He was fantastic in Star Trek, so I'm glad the offers are coming in for him.

This sounds horrible. Denzel is a great actor but man does he chose some horrible movies. Why in the world would he do 2 Train movies in a row?

I was really looking forward to seeing Pine in that George Clooney film he opted out of... and then we got him in Star Trek. I think the Clooney movie was shelved.

I agree, this doesn't sound great... but I'll be there ;)

Wait, Chris Pine, AND an action film about a runaway train. IM SO THERE!

maybe they could use some CGI and put PINE in the KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS..I think there is a train scene in that movie..

But, yeah. The earlier poster about Washington being in this movie after doing that other train movie with Travolta. Since I am not good with movie titles, I thought this was one of those bumped threads (you know what I'm talking about Mshrank) and that it was actually this current movie the tread was referring too..

I guess Denzle likes trains...

Good to see him in demand. After the performance he gave in Trek, he deserves to be in demand.

Just as long as Pine is more "unstoppable" than this guy:

Re: Chris Pine on his way to "A-list" status...

It's good that he's getting other work *now* Looks like he might be able to avoid type-casting.
