inFAMOUS. Anybody playing?

I'm watching my other half play this right now and it looks ace. I'm going to have to have a crack at it once he's done. It's a bit like Fable meets GTA meets Bioshock from what I've seen so far, with a smidge of Mirror's Edge (but without the frustration).

The final line of Morgan Webb's X-Play review of inFamous: "If you own a PS3 and don't play this game, you're dumb."
Or have other games that you consider more worthy of your money :p I'll be honest, inFamous is pretty low on my list now.

I just picked this up this week and haven't had a lot of time to play it yet, but so far what I have played I've really enjoyed. In the demo, I kind of struggled and died A LOT (as another poster said) so I set the difficulty to "easy" and that's probably too easy. Assuming the demo difficulty was probably "medium", I guess that would be my only complaint so far, that is, there's too big of a difference between "easy" and "medium." I like challenging, but not frustrating.

When I started playing, after I completed a level it told me it was too easy for me and upped the difficulty setting on its own.

Well I put a couple of hours into it tonight and before I started, I up'd the difficulty to "medium" and that seems about right for my level of "suckage." I like games that will let you change the difficulty midstream without having to start over.

I'm just working the first district and the one thing that I'm noticing is that it seems like the missions are pretty repetitive. Which for now is ok, because it's still fun, but if it stays this way throughout the other districts, it may get a little annoying.

After the level under the bridge it says it determined difficulty depending on how well I did.

I have to say, replaying it through now making evil choices, it's definitely fun to not worry about collateral damage. I'm doing thunder drops and lobbing grenades into screaming crowds and it's disturbingly freeing... :wtf:

I started playing this today...I have to say, it took me a long time to get used to it because I'm not used to the "sandbox" type games - I like to be told where I need to go! But once I got the hang of it and realised I could go ANYWHERE, I've been enjoying it immensely. I'm being very good so far and only frying the baddies. We'll see how long that lasts.

Opened up the 2nd island this afternoon. Holy crap but did the difficutly ramp up or what. I was loving this game and now it's gone from being fun to just downright annoying and frustrating.

Oh well, fun while it last I guess. On to Red Faction.

I'm loving this game. It's like Crackdown with more story and cooler ways to move. Although I do miss having actual weapons. Lightning gets a bit old.

Which difficulty are you playing on?

Nope, there's no penalty whatsoever for "death".

Good. There never, ever should be. Games that do that should not be played under any circumstances.

Yes, but Morgan Webb told you to do it and you don't want to disappoint her, do you ? :D

Oh, and shouldn't this thread be on our shiny new Gaming forum ? :shifty:

A Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon thread was moved into the Gaming forum, so in that thread I listed a bunch of threads that WEREN'T moved.

Was there an announcement of the new forum? Or did it just quietly appear, like a TV show's new episodes airing without any publicity after a long string of reruns in an effort by the network to kill it?

Yes, there's an announcement here.

I started on easy and went to medium, but I've since bumped it back to easy. Seems like the baddies on the second island are awfully hard to kill. The first mission I tried on the second island was the one where you have to protect the engineer from being killed. Man what a pain in the ass. I finally (after perhaps 20 tries) beat it, but good Lord, what is the point of making stuff so hard? Hell I think that mission was even harder that the first boss battle.

I can already tell I'll never finish this game.
