Famke Janssen or Terry Farrell ?

Okay who would you have rather had on DS9 ?

Famke Janssen (Famke Beumer Janssen) Kamala

OR

Terry Farrell (Theresa Lee "Terry" Farrell) Jadzia Dax

OR

Famke Janssen as Jadzia Dax

Can't we have both?! :(
I can understand where your coming from, the reason I asked was that at one point Famke Janssen was offered a spot on DS9 as Kamala IIRC
But Wiki states that she was offered the role of
Jadzia Dax.
I know that there are some around here that cannot stand Terry's acting and
Famke Janssen as Kamala made a better impression in Perfect Mate.

Also I was hoping someone around here would know if she was ever offered the
role of Jadzia Dax. Would Famke Janssen have made a better Jadzia Dax ?

Terry Farrell. Though I'm glad she borrowed Famke's spots. The original Trill makeup looks hideous on her.

I just know one thing, Famke Janssen would have made a great Jadzia Dax! I'm rather fond of her acting. But that doesn't mean that I don't love Terry-as-Jadzia. I never shared the dislike a small number of people seems to feel for her.

I don't see any way anyone could possibly have been worse than Terry Farrell, therefore, I pick Famke Janssen.

However, I don't think Janssen is a particularly good actress either...so really, the best thing to do would have had neither and had no Dax character on the show at all. It's not like Dax added anything to the show or was relevant to the plot in any way whatsoever anyways.

Relevant to what plot exactly? (And I hope you realize that this is not the first time I'm asking you this. Maybe I get an answer this time.)

If you think of the original concept for Jadzia Dax (essentially a female Spock), neither woman makes sense - one of the mistakes that made season one so uneven. Farrell had more room as an actress to find a Jadzia that worked for her, though

(Even if it did end up suspiciously like her take on the Cat in the second Red Dwarf USA pilot)

Relevant to what plot exactly?

Any of the overall plots of the series. Ie: the Bajor/Federation dynamic, the Dominion War, the Emissary, the general operation of the station, etc. etc. Jadzia and Ezri are pretty much the only characters on the show who perform no notable function relevant to the show which might justify their screen presence.

I agree with this portion 100%.

Though I do attribute some of the early shakiness in the character to the writers not knowing what they wanted to do with the character, Farrell was just atrocious.

I'm in the minority here that likes Nicole deBoer's portrayal. She played a young woman who wasn't ready for the overload of the Dax memories and knowledge. As much as some might say Jadzia was prepared, I highly doubt that any kind of training can prepare you to hold the memories of six lifetimes (sorry if my number is incorrect).

Kamala worked as a one-shot character. Part of what made her so fascinating was that her time to be a unique person was limited before she was destined to basically be sold into slavery to be someone's toy. She couldn't have worked as a weekly character. What would she do? Change into a different person every week? It would make DS9 like Dollhouse. As for Famke as Dax, I like this actress a lot (X2 is my favourite superhero movie and she's a big reason why), but I haven't seen anything in her work that shows she'd be able to play Dax with as much charm as Terry. I don't think she's a bad actress, I'm just used to seeing her play more serious characters. I know she's done comedy, but I haven't seen it, so I can't see her bringing the same free-spirited energy and breezy confidence in her performance in the role that Terry brought.

After watching the entire run of Becker, I'm going to say Famke because Terry Farrel is actually a bit better suited for comedy where as Famke seems to be the better actress for Sci Fi. But I really didn't like the Dax character anyway... And is one of the two people who prefer Ezri to Jadzia anyway.

Oh, so you're the other one.

Nice to know you.

Picard arrives at Kamala’s quarters in dress uniform to escort her to the Holodeck and to be presented to Alrik. She looks very beautiful in an exquisite dress. To his shock she tells him that she has bonded with him, and that she will never love Alrik, although since she is still empathic she will be able to please the Chancellor.

See I do not think Doll-house applies here
We would have a person who was supposed to be given over to some as a pleasure toy but now has been freed from this situation and has to forge an life of their own on a space station

Yep. I kinda like the idea of having a Counselor on Deep Space Nine, mostly because I think they really fucking needed one sometimes... They took the "BJ Honnicut" route of bringing in a new, fully developed character who was not a mere replacement.... And I just kinda thought she was more interesting.

That, and, well, she was a lot more attractive.

EDIT: I also prefer Terry Farrel's replacement on Becker.
