Would you like Seth McFarland to write a comedy Trek movie for Abrams?

I'm not talking about the upcoming sequel. There bringing back the same writers and hopefully they be able to do their "Wrath of Khan" so to speak. Something that amps up the drama and becomes more than just a fun little adventure movie. With that said I wouldn't mind if they went the comedy route in the 3rd movie and I thought Seth McFarland would be a intresting way to go. We know he is a "Star Trek" fan and he might be intrested in doing a "Star Trek" movie.

There are a few things that could be a problem. Both he and Abrams are big enough names they might not want to be in something were they might not get the credit they feel is deserved for the movie being a success. Naturally fans would end up giving all the credit to Abrams or McFarland.

The second problem is I don't think McFarland has ever wrote for live action. Plus he would have to modify his humor somewhat for a Star Trek movie. I don't see that as a problem. The guy is smart,I think he graduated from Harvard or some other Ivy league school, and he has done this before with Stewie on "Bones" and those tv adds. Not to mention the fact his shows are on network tv. Who knows how much he has had to pullback on we don't even know about because he couldn't get away with it on FOX.

McFarland is OVERRATED!

But Seth MacFarlane isn't.

Oh god, no.

I would like to see MacFarlane shot into the sun, though.

I also wouldn't call what he writes "comedy" either.

Eh I dont think its a good idea, maybe if Family Guy did Star Trek like they did to Star Wars in Blue Harvest I'd be down.

What do you think?

I would love to see it. I like "Family Guy" and "American Dad" and I think they guy is pretty clever, even though I know some people just see him as doing stuff just to shock people. Another thing I like is that I don't have much faith in Abrams ability to do a pure comedy movie. I like Abrams but comedy has never been his strongest strength. ALso if you look at his stuff he tends to get his comedy from a comic-relief character instead of doing comedy with everyone. "Alias" had the nerd guy and "Lost" had Hurley, though they later discovered that Sawyer could be funny as well and "Star Trek" had Scotty.

No, I meant what do you think, because of my user profile.
But yeah, I love his style of humor. As stated above, I would probably rather see a Blue Harvest deal than a full length live action motion picture. Though it could work if he's teamed up with someone who can tone down his insane off the wall humor. For an extra challenge, they can try to get Jim Carrey to play a serious villain.

I see Abrams as being the guy who can sort of balance out his aproach. Unless of course there ego's got in the way. A Tarantino/Oliver Stone type of conflict I imagine could always happen when you have a big name director and a big name writer both working on the same movie.
