^ Are the final numbers for Up not in yet? (I really want to see that. I'm a big fan of Pixar.)

EDIT: Sorry, double post. I don't know how that happened.

Added the final number for Up...about what it was estimated.

Star Trek is a great little moneymaker. :) Or a great, big moneymaker.

Now when they say they are pleased, they really are.

Re: Final Numbers -$Fitty Zillion - $Eleventy Five Point Four Kajillio

Not sure who changed the title of the thread to this, but whatever.

Re: Final Numbers -$Fitty Zillion - $Eleventy Five Point Four Kajillio

Yes, but Harry Potter will likely make $Fitty FIVE Zillion - $Twelvety Five Point Nine Kajillio and Transformer 2, well if that doesn't make Ninety Zillion or more before we start counting the Kajillios, well ... I'll eat my hat. So strong showing for Trek, but probably not the Zillions to make it top Summer Flick.

Re: Final Numbers -$Fitty Zillion - $Eleventy Five Point Four Kajillio

Harry Potter will certainly eclipse it in overall numbers for the year, Up may also beat it, but I have the feeling that Trek will keep chugging along all summer, sitting in the 5 or 6 spot as other movies that opened after it fall away.

There is something about Trek movies and repeat business that goes beyond the obsession of Trekkers themselves. My ex-girlfriend, who is generally a geek but not into Star Trek, wants to go again this week, and she's not the only one I've heard say that.

Re: Final Numbers -$Fitty Zillion - $Eleventy Five Point Four Kajillio

Can somebody put all this into Samolians?

Re: Final Numbers -$Fitty Zillion - $Eleventy Five Point Four Kajillio

Trek at worst will end up behind Transformers 2, Harry Potter, Up and Avatar.

Re: Final Numbers -$Fitty Zillion - $Eleventy Five Point Four Kajillio

T4 and DMtH aren't out in a lot of countries, so you'd think Star Trek would have the opportunity to improve the US/overseas ratio substantially over the last few weeks.

Another good weekend for Trek. I notice that after the last weekend in May, Iron Man still pulled in another $42 million dollars, so $250M might not be completely out of reach for Star Trek. I'm keeping hope alive.

I saw it, fifth time yesterday, sunday, and the theatre was 70% full. I was shocked at how many people were there, and VERY glad, very very glad, that most of them were families. The Nay-sayers can nay-say all they want...but fact is undeniable. STAR TREK has legs, and it is laying the foundation to a new era of fans. And that can only be a GOOD thing.

I too was surprised when on my third viewing on Saturday night at 9:15 the cinema was half full. This is a suburban cinema and that was the last screening of the night, I was only expecting maybe a few other people but it was good to see I was wrong.
