Facts About the USS Kelvin

Major Chord

Choir Boy Extraordinaire
Captain
Because the ship is just as much of a character as Cupcake, Pike, or Kirk...

The USS Kelvin is so badass that it doesn't need a second nacelle.

The USS Kelvin violates canon and rapes my childhood with its single warp nacelle and its four digit registry with a leading zero.

You so knew I was going to start that.

The Millenium Falcon made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs? The Kelvin will do it in less than six. You say a parsec is a unit of space rather than time? The Kelvin knows this. Does it anyway.

Badass.

That's because she needs only one nacelle, and knew that she would birth at least 486 more vessels.

The U.S.S. Kelvin has been immortalized in no less than nine hundred and forty-five Bob Dylan songs.

It's true.

The USS Kelvin had 800 crew members while TOS Enterprise had 400. That means Kelvin can take on two Enterprises.

I don't really have a problem with it having a single nacelle...

I think it's stupid how big the nacelle is and that it even has windows on it, and a rocket-like engine-exhaust in the back....

I'm also not fond of the engineering hull being on-top and the nacelle on the bottom. Granted there's no up and down in space, but it looks like an "upside down ship"

Of course the biggest thing I don't like about the USS Kelvin is the fact that it existed before the Nero's time-travel escapade, and yet despite this it still was much larger than the Constitution-class (I don't know if it's size was specified, but it looked bigger, especially when you look at the shuttlebay and had a crew of eight hundred) which was a more advanced design (wasn't even built yet) which was supposed to have been the largest ship of the era at 289 meters.

The USS Enterprise allowed the Kelvin to remain bigger than her out of respect for its bad-ass-ness.

You do understand that this thread is supposed to be a light hearted thread in the style of the "Facts About Robau" thread, right? Not a thread where you nitpick the movie, or a technical discussion thread.

I loved this ship, when I first saw it on the trailor I thought that it had two nacelles. i realised when watching the movie that the top one was the secondary hull. I liked the fact that it looked different however was still identifiable as a startfleet vessel!
