How Much Footage was Cut from the Star Trek? *SPOILERS*

How much footage / how many scenes were cut from Star Trek? Half hour? I was shocked to see how little screen time Winona Ryder got... she is one of the biggest names in the film and she was barely in the movie. I know that the scene where she gave birth to Spock was cut, but that couldn't have been that long.

But there were other scenes that were cut too... wasn't there a scene with Kirk & his stepdad (Greg Grunberg)? & others?

I am looking forward to when the DVD is released. Hopefully the deleted scenes are polished & not crappy looking like on the Nemesis DVD.

The whole Nero captured by the klingons stuff is what i want to see.

^ He was?? I was wondering why people kept talking about Klingons so much since the only time we "saw" them in the movie was when they were attacking Kirk in the Kobayashi Maru simulation.

Were there more Captain Robau scenes? People keep marking a big fuss about him too, but he is barely in the move.

Nope.

There is also a sequence of Spock with Amanda and Sarek just after he was born. Personally, I prefer this sequence to open up to the Title Star Trek then after the Kelvin attack. Kirk is just a douch-bag. :angryrazz:

I've heard snippets here and there....like the orion girl and Kirk's tryst explained fully and how she helps with the K-Test....I would of really liked had they included more stuff like this in.... where the characters actually interact with each other. This movie was at it's best when that was occuring and that didn't occur nearly enough !! This movie reminds me of Chinese food...you're full for a little while but after you've disgested it you feel kinda empty and you need to eat another plate.

I would be interested in that; it gives the briefest mention of her contribution in the book.

Thanks for the links, M'Sharak, I went directly to the second one.
First reaction: aw, isn't baby Spock a cutie? :)

I really want to see the whole Rura Penthe part. I'd love to have an extended movie release on DVD, like they did for LOTR, not the deleted scenes in the DVD extras. I really hope they'll do that.

To give you an example. There was actually about four and a half hours of footage cut from the film of captain Robau just staring out the Kelvin view screen. And it was awesome.

Apart from the cut 'Baby Spock' scenes, Ryder (or Amanda) was never intended to have much more than a cameo role. In this month's Empire, Ryder says she accepted the cameo because she was inspired by Marlon Brando's small role in Superman.

LOL -- but if they were smart they'd use Robau in maybe his own weekly series...yes another prequel if you will...I mean we'll all know how it ends but they could milk that for quite awhile -- the adventures aboard the Kelvin or by any other name ;).

I'm hoping for an extended cut... and a real extended cut with extra scenes. Not a cut with 1-2 minutes of new stuff just so they can fill the fights with more blood or fill the sex with more boobies. A real extended cut that, you know, extends the movie.

I'm like you. I think I've been spoiled rotten with the LOTR extended DVDs (yep, I'm also a LOTR fan. And a Dr Who fan. And a... oh well).
Who knows, maybe there's an alternate end with the reset button

No, she accepted the cameo just so she could see what kinds of cool shit she could steal. Plus, it's not like she is flooded with movie offers. At this stage of her career, she should move on to porn.
