Casting sheet for imaginary Cage crew remake TV series

Stardate

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
If Paramount/CBS would ever do a remake TV series using the the Cage crew pilot. What would you suggest casting in these six roles.I created this casting sheet for fun by using Memory Alpha plus the actors themselves for guidance..

Christopher Pike- 35-40ish. Modelish handsome, Determined. Dark hair, blue eyes. Roughly 6,1 feet

Spock – 25ish a Human/Vulcan genius. He is highly-logical with steel-trap mind and brilliant science officer despite his young age. roughly 6,1 feet tall.

Number One- 30ish-Caucasian female. Brunette. Human origin unknown. Captain Pike's First Officer on the Enterprise. She was noted for her exceptional intelligence and rationality. Captain Pike regarded her as the most experienced officer on the Enterprise. Very tall a least 5,9 feet, in great physical condition.

José Tyler- 25ish -Latin American. boyishly handsome navigator, still very much in the process of maturing. A phenomenally brilliant mathematician and space theorist with Latin temperament..Medium hight.

Philip Boyce- Caucasian. 45-50ish chief medic & shrink on the Enterprise is a highly unlikely space traveler. Boyce is worldly, humorously cynical, makes it a point to thoroughly enjoy his own weaknesses.Medium height

J.M. Colt- 20ish Caucasian female. A beautiful woman with petite figure even a uniform cannot hide, Red or auburn hair. Colt serves as Captain's Yeoman with surprising efficiency. She undoubtedly dreams of serving Captain Pike with equal efficiency in personal departments. Approx: 5,7 feet tall.

Personally we need add a least 2 to 3 more regular crew member f.c. chief engineering and helmsman are missing. Also lacking is people of other racial back-rounds.

i recommend for now.
James Patrick Caviezel as Christopher Pike
Kristanna Loken as Number One

Number One was the helm officer.

For Engineer

Clancy Brown

Lets call him "Welshie" ;)

Open spots would be a Comm Officer and perhaps a Tactical Officer.

I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to actors in their twenties. I don't even know much about the guy I picked other than he looked close to the part and was the right age. (Google is an amazing thing) ;)

Your pick looks better.

Your pick looks better.
My pick has more genre chops, having played the lead in the series "Jake 2.0", and even having voiced a Vulcan for the video game "Star Trek: Hidden Evil." Your pick was on an episode of Smallville. Although he is rumored to be playing The Flash in a 2011 release Justice League film.

OTOH, my pick is 34, and yours is only 29. I didn't realize Gorham was that old - he's actually almost a year older than me.

I like him for Spock because he has a slim, long-looking build like Nimoy. Including the hands, which is very important for a Vulcan character: shots of the salute, shots of hands on face for mind meld, and so forth.

Gorham is a good choice for Spock, but it's impossible to beat the guy they got for the movie. ;) Let's save Gorham for a Romulan of some sort in the future.

Pike - Neal McDonough with dark hair

Number One - Lake Bell

Jose Tyler - Freddy Rodriguez

Phillip Boyce - Xander Berkeley

J.M. Colt - Michelle Trachtenberg or Zooey Deschanel
Also lacking is people of other racial back-rounds.
Just toss Ken Leung, Naveen Andrews and Christopher Judge into any old role, then. I don't think there's a way to cast them badly. :D Even the weirdest ideas would still be fun to see them tackle. In fact, the weirder, the better.

Well the actor was 100% white.

Even Roddenberry said he cast "all whites"

That's why its slightly confusing.

But I'd prefer the remake actor to have the same look as the Pilot dude.

Christopher Pike- 35-40ish. Modelish handsome, Determined. Dark hair, blue eyes. Roughly 6,1 feet -- With this description, I can think of only one person, and he's already got experience as a Captain -- John Barrowman.

Spock – 25ish a Human/Vulcan genius. He is highly-logical with steel-trap mind and brilliant science officer despite his young age. roughly 6,1 feet tall. -- iCarly's Jerry Trainor

-- I can't really reconcile "Caucasian" with "human origin unknown." I'm seeing genre actress Gina Torres in the role, and I'm neither casting her because she's black, nor avoiding casting her because she's black. She fits everything but that Caucasian part.

José Tyler- 25ish -Latin American. boyishly handsome navigator, still very much in the process of maturing. A phenomenally brilliant mathematician and space theorist with Latin temperament..Medium hight. -- Bodie Olmos

Philip Boyce- Caucasian. 45-50ish chief medic & shrink on the Enterprise is a highly unlikely space traveler. Boyce is worldly, humorously cynical, makes it a point to thoroughly enjoy his own weaknesses.Medium height -- Peter Firth

J.M. Colt- 20ish Caucasian female. A beautiful woman with petite figure even a uniform cannot hide, Red or auburn hair. Colt serves as Captain's Yeoman with surprising efficiency. TNG showed us that we need a Chief Engineer, but I don't really have any good ideas.

My cast is actually pretty diverse, it has a Scot as Captain, an African-American as Number One, a Latino as Tyler, a white American as Spock, an Englishman as Boyce, and a Dutch woman as Colt. Rather Euro-centric, but not a bunch of plain ol' white Americans either.

It would be a reboot canon if you changed the ethnicities of the original characters...

And we ALREADY have a reboot canon with Trek XI and Greenwood's Pike

Too iconic as Captain Jack already. Out of the suggestions so far, I'm digging the idea of Pike being Caviezel. There's a nice semetry to that.
Spock – 25ish a Human/Vulcan genius. He is highly-logical with steel-trap mind and brilliant science officer despite his young age. roughly 6,1 feet tall. -- iCarly's Jerry Trainor.
I like this choice more the more I think about it. Win.

I don't think you could get away with Barrowman in the first place, but he would also put Torres right out. The show would become a series of ongoing in-jokes - they're both a little too identified with other roles. But Torres less so, and with someone else as Pike, I could see Torres working.
José Tyler- 25ish -Latin American. boyishly handsome navigator, still very much in the process of maturing. A phenomenally brilliant mathematician and space theorist with Latin temperament..Medium hight. -- Bodie Olmos.
Okay.

I really like this actress. But Colt really has the smallest shoes to fill - she could be played by almost anyone - I still like Leatherman for the part, too.

Could be part of that same reboot canon. Look at Chekov's hair, and the fact that he's two years older now....

Of course, this would put our remake series on a ship aside from the Enterprise. Maybe the Constitution?
