Plastic %&*(ing Fantastic

Plecostomus

Commodore
I'm a Plastic Man, I love plastic and all the wonderful stuff it can do... there is a material for every application it seems. It can be molded, milled, formed, shaped, bent, extruded... anything you can do to metal you can do to plastic.

That said whoever invented that sh1t they make those "blister packs" (the clear packages they seal new electronics in) with needs to be violated in the most horrific was possible, then executed... AED'd back to life and killed a second time.

Why the hate? I just cut myself and required five stitches trying to get my new MusicPod out of the package. Hooray for quick-turnaround medical clinic one and a half clicks from my house. :techman:

How about a pair of scissors? Scissors beats plastic, plastic shrink-wraps rock, etc.

It also has a regular utility blade on the other end.

That's what I was using. Fresh blade too.

Oh well the spot where they ripped my kidney out doesn't hurt as bad now. :guffaw:

I'm home now, I'm in my workshop surrounded by new tools and fresh paint and freshly cooked food listening to my new Music Pod.

Don't need no stinking pain pills. :techman:

file a complaint against the maker of the music pod, at the very least you might get your medical bill paid for

I might just do that, I shouldn't have to cut through six layers of plastic to get to a small 2" by 4" long item.

I watched a machine that extrudes the stuff choke and stall when it came time to cut off the web and start winding another roll for the forming press.

Air-over-hydro cutting blade that fires in a half-second with 20 tons of force deflected off of the moving web.

a) Outside of the thread title if you're going to cuss, cuss "sh1t" is no less offensive -and more silly- than "shit."

b) If you're going to use a knife know how to use it.

c) I agree. Sealing things in near impossible to open without cutting tools was stupid. And then once you get it open with some items everything is tied down with metallic twist-ties.

I remember getting a new toy as a kid and just ripping the pacakge open and, boom, I had my toy. Now days they almost make you dread opening the package because you know it is going to be a pain-in-the-ass to get it out.

NEXT time I'm going to set the slitting saw in the Bridge-Port and open it with that. 1.5hp of spinny-carbide goodness should do the trick.

Eh, not much sympathy from me. The thread title should instead read "I guess I don't know how to use a knife!"

I open those packages all the time at work and have never once cut myself badly enough to go to the ER/clinic.

Can't stand Barbie. Too skinny and that vapid smile hides a sinister and calculating mind.

You know she's just using you to get more stuff. She isn't going to stop until she gets the mansion, both sports cars, the RV and the pink fluffy-tailed pony. :shifty:

Thos packages are harder to open. theives used to be able to rip cheap ones open and stell things more easily. With packages you need scissors of box cutters for, you'd get caught far too easily and have to work it far too long.
