ALIEN 5 must have Ripley! ie, Sigourney Weaver

I have been hearing delicious talk of Ridley Scott doing another ALIEN film, albeit a prequel to the first. While exciting, I for one want another Ripley-Aliens film. I love the character and would love to see a real attempt at reimaging the series with her in it.

Thoughts?

I'm, to the point, where I'll believe it when I see it for this movie. I wouldn't even believe it as being true if it was announced by Fox at the moment, Scott, and Weaver together. I'll believe it now if we saw a real trailer in a theatre probably only by this point.

They've gotten people's hopes up with this film so many times since Resurrection came out.

Reboot baby! :p

Oooh I have an idea for that:

Ripley 8 and the crew of the Betty nuke the Alien Homeworld, but there's an accident and the alien queen is thrown back in time to 2122 where she awakens on LV-426 intent to kill Ellen Ripley. After a spectacular battle where the crew of the Nostromo is killed a mysterious man named Hudson appears out of no where to help Ripley kill the alien once and for all. After the alien is dead Hudson and Ripley go back to Earth, but Hudson sabotages her sleep chamber so that she sleeps for 57 years while he becomes a Mormon and produces himself.

Alien Queen: Ellen Ripley was a great woman. Destined to constantly thwart the Aliens. But that was another life.

How did you read my mind?

WITCH!!!!! - We need FIRE!

I think a reboot could be the most successful or least successful way to revitalize the series. It could be like Star Trek; a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale franchise, or it could be the next Superman Returns and almost kill it off completely.

There is a new AVP game coming out next year. One that promises not to suck. The original developers, Rebellion, are working on it and a successful launch of a new game could mean renewed interest in a new movie.

^ Plus you have the new Predator film coming out on July 7, 2010 (currently called Predators - I'm not making that up).

But doesn't that movie have absolutely nothing to do with the Predator franchise?
^ It is a relaunch from what I read in Variety.
Hmm, maybe. I remember a thread about this a few months ago where someone confirmed a movie called "Predators" that had nothing to do with the other Predator movies. It was just a coincidence that it had that name.

I do admit that I don't really keep up on this stuff.

An aging Ripley stubbornly refuses to leave her home in an alien overrun neighborhood and, while brushing off a persistent android catholic priest, reluctantly befriends and mentors the young alien boy next door who is harassed by an alien street gang.

Working title "Gran Nostromo".

I didn't either. I only found out about it when I read the above post about the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines game on Wikipedia and clicked on a link to the Predator Franchise page.

I had not heard of this before now. I used to keep up with the news on the universe until AVP2 killed my interest in seeing anything ever again.

IMDB has some links to it. Robert Rodriguez was supposed to direct it but the latest rumor is he's moved on from that.
