Post Your Summer Reading Lists!

I just make it up as I go along. I'm currently reading "It" by Stephen King so I may do some more King down the line but we'll have to see.

I intend to enjoy the Dune series on the balcony this Summer.
Oh, don't do that. Just read Dune and stop. There were no other books. Neither Herbert, nor his kid, nor Kevin J. Anderson wrote any further books. Dune is one, self-contained book. Please heed my warning.

 no, sorry, but I'm afraid I'll be throwing your caution to the wind. But if it becomes too bad I can always introduce alcohol and numb the brain a bit.

I played the games and saw the mini-series and was reminded of it when we were in a sci fi bookstore so I figured I'd pick it up. It's definitely a bit out of there, but I tend to enjoy that sort of stuff. Hell, last book I actually finished and enjoyed reading was The Silmarillion ... guess I like torturing myself.

As of yesterday, I started to re-read the Wheel of Time series again, from start to finish.

I was thinking about reading them again, but I'm missing three or four of the books...I think I loaned a couple out and never got them back, and a couple of them fell apart (even the hardcovers. wtf is that about?).

Yeah, I wanted to do this to prep for what I THOUGHT was the final book, #12, coming out this fall. However, I just learned that the new author, Brian Sanderson, has decided to split this up into 3 books, so now there will be three more.

I expect to read the conclusion in... oh.... 2028. :scream:

I have to read so much for school that by the time I am off for a break I just can't bring myself to pick up a book. However, I really love reading and when I was a kid and teenager I read ALL the time, and rather quickly. Now I read very slowly and can't do it in spurts of a few minutes on the bus or while waiting, if I am going to read it needs to be for at least an hour or two.

I miss reading for pleasure and hopefully I get bored enough this summer that I will finish the book I started last year. After that I will read my Agatha Christie books. I have the entire Hercule Poirot series that I really want to get to, but I have only read 5 of them.

I'm mixing new novels, classic SF that I never got around to reading, and actual classics that I never got around to reading.

I'm almost done with Alfred Bester's "The Stars My Destination" right now - AWESOME book! Next up (in no particular order):

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith (I can't resist this concept! :guffaw: )

Blind Faith - Ben Elton

Anna Karenina - Tolstoy

Dandelion Wine - Ray Bradbury

Wake - Robert J. Sawyer

The Return of the Native - Thomas Hardy

Portrait of a Lady - Henry James

... that will probably keep me busy for most of the summer. I don't have that much free time to read! :)

Oh man, really? I hadn't looked into it for a while, but I was looking forward to finally finishing this series. I started reading it in 8th grade...I had no idea what I was getting into!

Im 5 pages into Twilight.. I hate it but i'm being pestered by a friend to read it.

I tend to read a lot of Star Trek books, I finished Metamorphosis a while back and i'm now reading Descent.

I read a lot of non-fiction and have 3 books on the go right now.

Word Freak - Heartbreak, Triumph, Genius, and Obsession in the World of Competitive SCRABBLE Players (Stefan Fatsis)

Last Chance to Eat - The Fate of Taste in a Fast Food World (Gina Mallet)

Get A Life! (Bill Shatner); this one is a re-read after I found it while editing my book stash recently.
