Love the whole Colin Solomon idea of an immediate superior. That's smart, and something I didn't think about. I don't know the rest of the actors, save Cromwell. And while my immediate gut instinct is to reject the idea of Davison playing anyone besides The 5th Doctor, I also can't resist the idea of how he would just eat up scenes as the character you described. That's good. Damn you.
I hate Doomsday, which is a shame as I've loved Neill Marshall's other films, and Escape from New York is one of my favourite films, but this crossed the line between homage and rip off for me...Rhona Mitra looks nice enough, but sriously
The couldn't you pick someone who could look good
and act
Loving Tilda Swinton though...
Mitra was digestible for me on
Boston Legal, and I think she carries action really well. Compared to the rest of my team, I would definitely say Mitra's character would end up being the toughest. Also, she would have the biggest libido next to Jack (a frequent sex partner).
And if she's tough as nails, then Swinton's character would be the flighty, possibly-stoned, eccentric hacker that is deceptively deadly and seriously skilled on the battlefield of the mind. Think X-Men's
Emma Frost (sans superhuman abilities) mixed with Kate Hudson's
Penny Lane from
Almost Famous. She would totally wear some kind of silver contacts, as well, to give her an strange, rave-ish albino look. And her dress style would change with, literally, every episode.
Sally Sparrow would, like I said, have the dark hair pictured (maybe in a different style). Also, I would want it written for her character as if she grew up, probably living with the guy from
Blink (who would be up there with Rhys as background supporting character), and has taken an adult interest in searching out the strange and weird of the universe. You of course realize this would have to bring an episode with the return of the Quantum Angels...
Mickey Smith is the guy that comes from the alt-universe Torchwood. This is the guy that's liberated that Earth from the Cybermen. He's a fully-rounded and grounded character now. As far as physical fighter and all that...while Mitra's character would be the
Lara Croft/Linda Hamilton-Sarah Connor of fighters in the team, Mickey Smith is more of the
Indiana Jones. He gets through a lot of his situations by thinking on his toes, and usually a good deal of physical pain. But, he's not the kid from
Rose or the fool from
School Reunion. He's a man, now. He's seen war, death, and the end of the multiverse. He's not afraid, no matter what kind of crap he has to wade through. But....he still has a single, primal fear of shop window mannequins...
James Nesbitt is a surgeon, previously with UNIT. Starting his young career, he was a Royal Marine until the field of medicine became his calling. Older than the rest of the team (except Jack, natch!), he's the most mature of the group in terms of emotional control. He's also the most professional which sometimes comes across as humorless or emotionless. However, his rapport with Jack indulges in plenty of witty barbs and dirty inneundo. His closest kinship of spirit would be the strangely lucid teammate played by Tilda Swinton....they're both surgeons in their own way...her with computers and him with alien bodies. His only reason for being with Torchwood is a bit like Jack's....to be on the frontline of the next era in human defense and exploration.
