Not really, I felt more connected to Picard and what he went through as a character as well as how they used plot points that had been part of the characters through nearly all of TNG to create the Anti-Time Future he visited. It was all really well-put together how they logically extrapolated from that to give off the future most likely to happen from that point on.

That's exactly it, plot points that's all the "development" was. It was all about servicing the Q/trial/anomaly story. The characters emerged from the crisis and went on about their "stiff upper lip" business. Not until Generations were we shown any REAL humanity from the TNG cast.

WYLB tried to wrap most things up, but just didn't quite pull it off in good fashion.
It ended the war, closed out the story of the Emissary, FINALLY got Dax and Bashir together, gave Worf a new purpose that allowed him to FINALLY "go home" to his people, among others. All of them were excellently done.

That, and I thought that flashback montage was rather corny.
Yes, let us forget about the last 7 years and NOT examine how we have changed over that time. Let us not refelct on how we've grown, and adapted and become different people because of it.

Saying it was "deep, meaningful" is just usual hyperbole.
No saying AGT was anything OTHER than plot-driven BermaTrek formula is hyperbole.

Yes, and the writers managed to tie those very plot points to the characters without it coming off as forced. It felt natural and logical for the characters, just like in DS9.

The final battle with Dukat sucked, Sisko's "destiny" was predictable, Dax and Bashir, who cares? Worf, well his own Klingon arc had already been resolved in TNG until DS9 gave a new one (which really wasn't visited that much aside from 2 or so episodes anyways), it wasn't anything special.

They didn't have to use the flashback to show how the characters had changed. The viewers could see it for themselves. It just came off as corny.

Nope, claiming AGT was "BermaTrek" (which is in itself wrong) and that it didn't work with the fundamentals of Trek and TNG's own characters is just innate bias against TNG like most DS9 elitists.

But this isn't a flame thread, so let's drop it.

Has to be "All Good Things," since it's my all-time favorite finale for any TV show of any genre. I loved the last season of DS9, and it was better than TNG's, too, but the finale wasn't the best part of the season. Good, but not as good as other episodes that season.

Wait, someone voted for These Are The Voyages? I liked Enterprise well enough, despite its flaws, but that was a bad finale.

Although DS9 is my favorite series and TNG is second best I still liked Voyager's finale the best. The DS9 ending rather of annoyed me.

Why do the flashbacks if you are going to omit a major character? (Jadzia) It cheapens the whole thing.

That - And other things very much cheapen "What you leave behind". It's only the 2nd best finale because the rest of them are all awful. (AGT being the clear #1)

All Good Things FTW!!!

It's the one finale (that was actually written as a final episode) that didn't kill anyone or totally invalidate the rest of the show.

What You Leave Behind - It's not perfect, but I think it's easily the most complex, engaging and powerful of the finales. IMHO it's a worthy conclusion to DS9 as a whole. My biggest complaint is the final Sisko / Dukat confrontation which is really underwhelming, I think. Other than that (and minor complaints aside) I really enjoy WYLB.

I voted the same, and agree with the above on the Sisko/Dukat confrontation.

The ending was just far more satisfying from a character perspective. Everyone said their goodbyes, some died, some moved and and the rest had to start over in a new era.

All Good Things a very close second and I loved Q's speech at the end, but the only reason it's second is due to TNG's lack of development/same as always style with it's characters.

Voyagers was underwhelming and I was watching the show because it was Trek at that stage, TATV wasn't as bad with repeat viewings and had some moments, but still poor and TOS... I'm in the camp that says TUC's their finale. Ok, it's a movie but the intention of ending it was there, whereas it wasn't as clear in TI.

All Good Things. It was so good that it unfortunately raised the quality bar too high for the Movies to follow.

Hah, I never thought of it that way, but you're right.

I'm voting for All Good Things. It was probably the most thought-provoking of the Trek finales, everyone had a part to play, and it's as close to hard sci-fi as any post-TOS story, I think. It was just all out intriguing, with one long mystery in what is essentially the pursuit of knowledge (what Trek is supposed to be about, as opposed to major pretty battles).

What You Leave Behind is a close second for me. DS9 was the first Trek show in which I could remember seeing clear, developed archs for each character, and aside from some minor flaws, it showed that the overall storyarc idea, a two-year investment, had paid off. I'm also quite glad that the war was wrapped up in the first half, leaving the second half free for aftermath.

Endgame and These Are The Voyages, I can't be bothered with. Endgame was fairly good as a season finale, but not as a series finale.
