Polybius

john titor

Captain
Has anyone dared to play this game? There's a whole urban myth surrounding it, it was meant to induce epileptic fits, nightmares, night terrors and permanent psychosis. MIBs started showing up and recording data before removing the coinups, there was also meant to be subliminal messages in the game.

Spooky...

I'd be very surprised if anyone has actually played the real thing.

Polybius is a supposed arcade game featured in an Internet urban legend. According to the story, the Tempest-style game was released to the public in 1981, and caused its players to go insane, causing them to suffer from intense stress and horrific nightmares. A short time after its release, it supposedly disappeared without a trace. No evidence for the existence of such a game has ever been discovered.

well theres no smoke without fire. The recreated version is meant to be fairly faithful. Very messed up. There are a lot of subliminal messages in the game and its meant to induce psychoactive effects through auditory and visual stimuli. Its just one messed up game.

The recreated version is not the real thing and is not proof that it really existed any more than The X-Files is proof of a government conspiracy to cover up the truth about alien life or a guy on a message board posting about life in the future is proof that time travel is possible. ;)

I'm not saying it wasn't real or that it was, I'm just saying that all we have is a blurry black and white photo of a cabinet and a Photoshopped title screen.

The link doesn't work but there is an entry on the game.

Was all that (action) BEFORE or AFTER the hits of LSD? seriously I doubt this game ever existed, if it did I'm pretty sure the media of that day would have coverd it.
